My own anecdote: at a previous job, new development was done in Rails, while "legacy" Python applications were maintained by one (!) guy. The Python apps were about the exact opposite of the Ruby apps -- cherrypy was used for the

I had the same problem, and it was annoying as heck. Try running a multi-process build (Nightly/Aurora/Beta) and see if your experience gets any better.

I snooped around to figure out a way to bypass Wired's block (and was successful), but in the end I just don't care about their content. It has definitely fallen off the radar for me.

Or even turn it into a paid service! Seems to be an underserved niche fan base. I'm sure most of the players would be happy to fork over $15/mo. for an official "oldschool" server.

When the product is an unmanaged VPS, I think certain assumptions can (hopefully) be made about the capabilities of the customer.

That is brilliant. For Mobile Safari, copy the bookmarklet source, create a "dummy" bookmark, then go back and edit it. Delete the URL and type in `javascript:` and paste the JS.

Half as much for the Latitude? I checked the Apple/Dell stores, and while the MBA i7 upgrade has a slower clock speed and is limited to 8GB RAM, it's also less expensive ($1750 vs. ~$2000; http://imgur.com/a/E

I tend to dismiss these sorts of overtly negative articles out of hand. While it's true that Apple could probably follow Intel's roadmap more closely, it's been years since they have promoted their platform using "speeds

Totally agree, the depth of most mobile games is extremely lacking. That said, I would recommend "Kero Blaster" by Daisuke Amaya (Cave Story guy). It's a similar run 'n gun, but very fun if you're into that genre.

My problem with this, as an occasional JavaScript developer, is "discoverability" (as many others have mentioned). If I decide I need a left-pad function, and search on NPM, how do I choose which one is best? The one with the most

To be honest, I've been hoping that Google would lead the way with JS API bindings... Cordova is pretty nice these days, but it would also be nice not to deal with it.

Functional tests are the best kind of tests. While unit tests are nice sanity checks when implementing tricky methods, when the rubber hits the road, you want to know if the whole app works as you expect it to.

Can this problem be solved by installing a custom ROM, such as CyanogenMod? I've only used Nexus Android phones, so am curious how to stay updated if using a phone from an OEM.
