Canons? Now I've gotta look up the CDC numbers on canon deaths for last year. I wonder how many died from grape shot vs cannister rounds?

The danger of thermonuclear war is just as real (yet remote) today as the danger (and remoteness) of a school shooting in the 80s. The only difference is the popular perception of that threat as fueled by the media.

You make a good point but how do you figure that sounds conservative? Also, liberalism and socialism are opposing ideologies.

If you are a cop then you should have no expectation of privacy. That is the tradeoff for getting to walk around with a gun and the authority of state sanctioned killing. If you dont like it, dont be a cop. There can be no middle ground.

What is left and right? These are completely meaningless concepts, especially in an American context where the political nomenclature makes no sense at all.

This would not necessarily be considered "liberal" in Switzerland, as the Liberal and FDP parties (now merged) are not liberal in the sense that Americans misuse the term.

This doesn't make any sense. Citizebs United had nothing to do with self-funding a campaign. If anything a reversal on Citizens United would incentivize more self-funded campaigns, as political speech by third parties is what would b

First photos of a live specimen snapped in 2005 and only a few sightings since. It really reinforces that not all of nature has been discovered by humans and there is still much need for exploration.

You are conflating privatization with free market economics. The two are not mutually inclusive, even though there is surely a large commonality among the respective advocates of each. Free market economics has more to do with the state in

A reduction in working hours does not equate to a reduction in productivity. We should be striving to minimize time spent working while maximizing productivity as a basic goal of capitalistic society. Also this old argument about reduced w

All of the above! Dna is very stable (compared to, say, many proteins).. it is essentially the cell's harddrive, while mRNA is more like the memory. DNA is able to express complex information through sequences of a small number of st

That would be ideal. Unfortunately sequencing is imperfect and there are many points throughout the process where error can be introduced. The easiest source of error is simple contamination. It happens even to the best of bench biologis

With a civilian body count far higher than ISIS's, the Assad regime is surely the largest producer of terrorists. I wonder if put to a vote on whether the US should withdraw its support of the rebels, how would most Syrians vote?
