Prop C put a few companies into this quagmire. Stripe is another prime target for this gross receipts tax. As written, I wouldn't be surprised if these types of companies that handle consumer payments or transactions moved HQ to Oaklan

Gathering data and doing analysis seems like a much better skill set to look for than can this person press run on this model. I hope you guys can figure it out; interviewing in the software industry is broken.

I think for this to be truly successful, Tesla would need to vertically integrate better. that is: - run the insurer which effectively bet against you crashing your car - the repairs, we can fix it better/faster/cheaper than 3rd

Literally every person I interview I look for a baseline understanding of sql. Nothing tricky, but just the core concepts. So key to basically every aspect of software today.

I regularly do technical phone screens at my company and it is amazing the number of people with masters degrees or very pedigreed backgrounds who are unable to solve a relatively simple problem. I think part of it is performance anxiety be

So the question for me as an engineer becomes, do I grind it out at a FAANG company and try to be one of those level 7’s OR do I roll the dice on the startup? My intuition is that the former has a better outcome on average. Seems pretty rar

Definitely not Hysteria. I have inhaled second-hand crack smoke walking up the stairs at Civic Center, watched a man defecate on a crowded train, and saw a person get stabbed in the past 5 years of riding BART. It's not this bad in NYC
