In an interview he stated he doesn't view Gawker as journalists and I agree. It's frankly baffling that Gawker are regareded as the poor underdog fighting for journalistic freedom when they were a multi-million Dollar cooperation

This is the video I was referring to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i_yJTCDU4uE As a sibling reply already mentioned, it's an interview with Tyler Cowen who does a terrific job at interviewing Peter. I don't hav

I recently watched a 5 year old video of Thiel at some conference (actually autoplay after some other video I can’t remember). I didn’t even notice it was that old because he’s so far ahead with his ideas that they are still relevant.

I definitely agree but there's a lot of room for compromise between "user servicable battery" and "repair shops can't even buy the parts".

In one of my first laptops the battery lid was the battery. But this doesn’t allow for a sleek unibody. Apple sacrifices a substantial amount of functionality for the sake „sleekness“. Another prominent example is the keyboard which they no

Predicting the future of one technology from the development of another technology doesn’t make much sense imo. Where are our fusion reactors and flying cars ;-)?

Absolutely. At the moment AI seems to scale extremely well in one dimension (amount of data) but really poorly at the other (semantic of data). An huge increase in the former looks like an increase in the other (because more data = more sim

But this could very well be a result of priming people for a consensus (or its opposition) I’m too young to judge but it wasn’t always like this or was it?

I had a different issue. My right AirPod Pro just flat out refused to connect. It was still “hissing” from the NC and making the click noise from the pause gesture. But it wouldn’t connect to my phone, even after resetting the Airopds.

Water can create false touch inputs, this should be the case for most of not all capacitative touchscreens. In my experience the speaker still works well enough if wet and Siri weirdly also works but a person you call with the Apple Watch w

Or you go self employed and get your own fancy workstation since you know it’s easily worth your money in the long run. Don’t work for people that don’t understand this.

When I say ignorant I mean in legislation. Just now Germany's drug safety representative presented a new campaign to keep teenagers from smoking weed (roughly translated "toking is uncool"). I'm not aware that there'

This is a neat visualization, I wonder if this is more persuasive than written numbers of users and money. I just think it should use some sort of chunking to avoid breaking the page flow. On another note, I’m from Germany and here there is

On the other hand, for a lot of successful apps Apple’s share looks like profiteering and it becomes a very bad (but unavoidable) deal for developers.

Why even demand a percentual rate and not a flat fee per item? This discussion should go beyond the App Store and into payment processor and similar “platforms”. I’m aware that businesses use these platforms to conduct their business but at

I haven't tried Missive, but how are memory and battery usage? I've seen fast electron apps, so I know they exist. Programmers basically treat memory as if there's enough of it to not care about, but Laptops are still sold wi

I’d support windows in a heartbeat, if they would stop treating users as the product (by showing ads and tracking them). This even extends to the Pro version. Also, they should just remove the new settings UI. It’s confusing.

In the book “Thinking fast and Slow” the Baseball example is given for a learned intuition. The ball is too fast for batters to react so they learn to anticipate the trajectory of the ball from the way the pitcher throws. When they let prof
