It cannot be overstated how absurd the marketing campaign for AI was. OpenAI and Anthropic have convinced half the world that AI is going to become a literal god. They deserve to eat a lot of shit for those outright lies.

But people have been telling us for years that the squirrel was going to improve at chess at an exponential rate and take over the world through sheer chess-mastery.

Sue, but if they stop training new models, the current models will be useless in a few years as our knowledge base evolves. They need to continually train new models to have a useful product.

Especially for what’s basically an experiment. Gas town didn’t really work, so there’s no guarantee this will even produce anything of value.

What the fuck is wrong with you? This guy is either a troll or legitimately mentally ill.

Yeah, I read it. “Speechless, shocked, unbelievable, insane, speechless”, etc. Not a lot of real substance there.

This reads like a weird cult-ish revenge fantasy.

This sounds wayyyy over the top for a mode that released 10 mins ago. At least wait an hour or so before spewing breathless hype.

Sounds like this is just a claim Anthropic is making with no evidence to support it. This is an ad.

We’re going to see all talk of AI 2027 quietly disappear as folks realize how out-of-touch with reality it is. I have no idea why people take that crap seriously.

That’s neat, but it’s important to note that agentic systems aren’t just comprised of the LLM. You have to take into account all the various tools the system has access to, as well as the agentic harness used to keep the LLM from going off

Another victim of AI psychosis. I think this is actually becoming a huge problem among tech enthusiasts and I’m increasingly worried about it.

One of these guys he’s citing has identified himself as a Nazi. Maybe Scott should start exercising a little discernment here. Regardless, he’s making a pretty weak argument against Sasha’s interpretation of the study.

Anyone who cites Jordan Lasker and Kierkegaard on heritability discussions is not someone you should take seriously.

Keep in mind this research is based on correcting twin study heritability estimates for confounding effects. However, new research shows that heritability estimates derived from twin studies are themselves dramatically inflated: https:

A belief that LLMs are not conscious does not necessitate a belief in souls. The two positions are not mutually exclusive.

Probably because if they weren’t absurdly esoteric we’d be able to tell it isn’t funny.

Well yeah, real people are instructing these things to push crypto scams on the forum. This isn’t emergent behavior, it’s engineered behavior.

Astroturfing or marketing, I’d guess. I’ve noticed you’re no longer allowed to say negative things about AI here without significant pushback, and I’d bet this isn’t an organic shift in perception.

Account created in 2022, only started posting in the last couple days. Pretty sure this user is a bot.

Check out some of the users hyping this up here… many of them are low karma and posting in this thread for the first time in years, both of which are red flags for bot activity.

It shouldn’t make sense to you, because it’s meaningless slop. Exercise some discernment.

Be mindful not to develop AI psychosis - many people have been sucked into a rabbit hole believing that an AI was revealing secret truths of the universe to them. This stuff can easily harm your mental health.

It’s not surprising that a language model trained on the entire history of human output can regurgitate some pseudo-spiritual slop.

It’s equally strange that people here are attempting to derive meaning from this type of AI slop. There is nothing profound here.

It really, really is. The fact people here are taking this seriously is an indictment of this space. There is nothing meaningful here.

I feel like you’re trying to assign meaning where none exists. This is why AI psychosis is a thing - LLMs are good at making you feel like they’re saying something profound when there really isn’t anything behind the curtain. It’s a languag

A couple of these tenets are basically redundant. Also, what the hell does “the rhythm of attention is the rhythm of life” even mean? It’s garbage pseudo-spiritual word salad.
