We don't share much with "agile development" except a rapid development cycle. "Agile development" things we don't do do (from the wikipedia article): Exhaustive unit and integration testing - our testing is sparse and only for things tha

Have you seen myspace.com? It's proof that clutter isn't the problem tech people think it is. See http://andrewchen.typepad.com/andrew_chens_blog/2007/11/do-y... for more in depth coverage of the same idea.

If you want to build your own S3 clone before you get started on your project, that makes perfect sense. Although, in that case, it makes little sense to use S3 at all. The whole point is that you don't have to write your own clone.

Google Analytics actually just added support for AJAX/Flash actions...look up the documentation, you can have each step of that process appear as a "page".

I agree PHP has a lot of ugliness to it, but it's hard to argue with things like the success of Facebook. If that's not serious webapp development work, I'm not sure what qualifies.

Nice catch. I didn't notice that. However, maybe PG just likes Obama - you can support a candidate that you don't think is certain (or even likely) to win. * No longer relevant given PG's response

The one problem with the theory I see is that it's easy to choose which candidate is more charismatic after they've won. So, PG - put your money where your mouth is. Who's the most charismatic candidate this time?

The disturbing part here is that prep schools actually are good . If they were extravagant wastes of money, they would be irrelevant. The reason we have public education is that we're trying to give everyone an equal footing to start out i

The web is just the most convenient place to deliver software. Justin.tv has a huge* amount of highly concurrent, high performance Python code that delivers our video. That video is still delivered via the web, though. Speaking of which, we

So, technically, the software we've written is a distributed flash video distribution system, of the type one could use to run a CDN. But "distributed flash video system" is like 20 characters longer and a lot harder to say than CDN. It run
