Tons of kids ride their bikes around my parents neighborhood. They are always fiddling on their phone while riding. It seems so sad to me, not much different than if they were all smoking cigarettes. They literally can’t help themselves.

Many of the naysayers are likely picturing the bulky headsets we have today and the other limitations. Good chance Zuck has seen reason to believe future generations of the tech are going to be profoundly better.

I think this is a large part of why these cars become popular. If you’re in a normal sized sedan it feels like you’re surrounded by giant aggressive death machines. I’m also absolutely convinced people buy them because they want people to

They need to convince us it’s not a Ponzi scheme so we will put money into it so they make money off our money. Then all we need to do is convince some more people it’s not a Ponzi scheme.

Protecting your country is a considerably more complex and nuanced goal than “save as many lives as possible no matter what” especially since secondary effects of lockdown also cause deaths. Long term economic effects for example, and the a

Is it a good time to sell a used car and buy a new car? Or are the new cars equally as inflated?

I’ve been cycling for many years and do a careful mix of: 1) Relaxing recovery rides 2) Long endurance rides (50-100mi) 3) Race pace 1-2 hour rides 4) Intense sprints I’m usually a little sore after 3 or 4, and take a relaxed day after. Tha

I do a power set of shrugs, curls, and one other I forget the name of. Then I put on a weighted vest and do a power set of ab roller, dips and decline push-ups. My cardio (cycling) includes a mix of sprints of various sorts so I don’t bothe

I’ve always loved cardio but found weight lifting to be impossibly boring. Then one day I decided to do 2-3 minutes of power sets, once in the morning and once at night. Every day. I very quickly became stronger than I’ve been before. It’s

I grew up during the transition into the internet era and don’t recall feeling cynical about digital or analog. I was intensely drawn into the internet, software, programming, but never thought “boy I’m glad stupid analog is going to be rep

There may not be any singular moderate approach which completely captures the complexity. The hope is that everyone viciously disagreeing about what to do captures that complexity and over time converges onto some sort of reasonable comprom

Cupertino? DOTA? What are you talking about. I moved from a completely different city and to a completely different state. I also have no interest in video games. HN is so odd sometimes.

I didn’t. I was responding to the sentiment that people don’t enjoy living in the suburbs, that they only move there in order to raise kids. I don’t even have kids I just don’t like living in big cities.

We do seem to spend an awful lot of time worrying about infinities when it appears the cosmological horizon is finite. But I guess if we find some way around that we will be prepared.

Basically none of what you just described rings true to me, for what it’s worth. I moved away from the big city because I love the quieter life in suburbia. I can stand to visit cities for a few days but much more and it really wears on me.
