There may not be any singular moderate approach which completely captures the complexity. The hope is that everyone viciously disagreeing about what to do captures that complexity and over time converges onto some sort of reasonable compromise. Maybe that brute algorithm can somehow be improved using ML techniques though I don’t know what that would look like exactly.
