I'll second this recommendation. Outdoors sports, especially rock climbing, are the perfect counterbalance to programming. Where programming is in your head, climbing is in your gut, your body, and in the current moment. Personally, I

Writers are paranoid . I played around with a self-publishing site last year ( http://webfiction.co ) and was surprised more than once by how worried writers were about getting ripped off, losing control of their work, etc. I thi

It's vague, because it's a high level idea. I want to earn more than I can by time, therefore I have to get clients to start thinking about how much value they are getting and paying for that. Practically I've had success rec

I read somewhere that they can absorb DNA from foreign sources (other animals, etc) into their cells when they rehydrate, leading to an accelerated rate of evolution.

Regarding zenpusher: From my armchair, It seems like you should make the contrast higher for the fonts. I've been reading Thinking, Fast and Slow, and his research shows that text that is hard to read activates the conscious part of ou

I can't speak for the GP, but I lived there for a month with my wife and 3 kids. During that trip we spent extended time in Salzburg, Munich, and Vienna, and Vienna was my least favorite. It's hard to put my finger on why I liked

I have a Nissan Leaf. It retails at $29k, before the tax incentive. They can be leased with no down payment for $250/mo. It's fun to drive, well-made, I absolutely love it. Teslas are expensive, but if you want an electric car the

I've heard it mentioned several times, but I don't really understand how to use it to deploy haskell code. Do you know of a tutorial link somewhere?

That sounds way nicer than my 30 minute deploy process. I develop on a mac and deploy to ubuntu. How would you recommend I build? Vagrant? (I almost finished getting the vagrant stuff working).

Just compared to dynamic languages. Cross compiling and such. I went with docker (see the repo) and it works. Deploys via docker push are a little slower than I'd like but nothing I can't improve later.

I quit coffee, working on eating lots of vegetables and limiting beer and sweets. Getting outside into the sunshine (literally) and getting my heart rate up makes a world of difference in how I feel. Pretty much every day, intense if I can.

It's directly related to how familiar the syntax is. If a syntax is very foreign, it's difficult for your brain to read it, and it is uncomfortable. People don't like being uncomfortable :) The more syntax you learn, the less

Then don't. It's really pretty easy to get in to contract programming (making assumptions here). Especially if you default to long-term contracts. It's basically like a job but you get to pick how many hours you put in.

You can do it! Keep learning and switch jobs as soon as you can. You don't have to switch to your dream job right away, just trade up a little at a time. You'll learn even faster at the next one.
