   I've been a big fan of theirs for a long time. I used to sit and browse their huge printed catalog in my spare time just to discover more parts to consider for use in my builds.

   Actually it was Video Enhanced DIC (VEDIC) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nanovid_microscopy?wprov=sfla1 It is apparently able to resolve colloidal gold particles 20-40nm in diameter.

   Isn't Differential Interference Contrast able to resolve to 20nm or am I misremembering that?
