http://movies.netflix.com/ or http://dvd.netflix.com/ A question... what's the difference between free aws support for standard accounts and the highest paid level of support for aws? Free aws support is evasive and opaque on http://s

The update I heard was (essentially) 'Another update from Amazon: Looks like it was a power issue for one facility that services a particular AZ in us-east-1, flipped to generator, now back on power and in recovery mode.'

And this can solved, for the purposes of a rank beginner, with a $80 setup by a competent guitar tech.

Exactly. I work on the cinematch team at netflix. The several hundred blended algorithms that was output of the grand prize winning team is very... impractical... for netflix' needs. We cherry picked (and then modified) the best of the bunc

It's about damm time. This would've been nice a week ago when I deleted 140K items from a bucket that were moved elsewhere. The deletes took _14 hours_.

Please note that it was Starz who had a contract with sony that had subscriber count as a term in the contract, not netflix.

I once got a chance to talk to Meg when I worked at eBay. After the, very brief, interaction I dubbed her "Queen Margaret" as the look on her face suggested that rabble like me shouldn't be seen, at least by the aristocracy. Also, across th

I am a netflix employee. I hold my employer to certain standards and I do not defend anything they do automatically - for instance, I thought the way the plan split/price hike was communicated was just awful. So I'm not trolling. When I fir

I honestly don't care how Apple runs it's business. I don't work for apple, I do, on the other hand, work for netflix, and not having to worry about DVDs will be a nice relief.

I'm quite certain that my views on yahoo are biased. Nearly no one I've interviewed from yahoo has bad-mouthed their former employer, so my negative bias is from working with people that have passed the technical interview and have been hir

No. Netflix uses AWS for nearly everything (including transcoding videos) other than streaming bits and a subset of other processes (PCI type stuff).

I know you are wrong. We've hired lots of folks from yahoo to work on infrastructure and one guy from reddit to be a cloud SRE. but we've yet to hire a security guy from sony.
