The key thing reddit has is subreddits. Maybe they could be implemented using BlueSky's custom feeds?

I use the old.reddit desktop mode on my phone. I can see 20 stories at once compared to 4 on the normal mobile layout (The text is small but still pretty readable). The minute they get rid of old reddit I'll probably just stop using th

I don't understand this "can't have it both ways" argument. Moderation on social media is a good thing, it would be less usable without it. It's also good that people can post their thoughts to the world without a

I don't think so. 230 protects them from liability for the video, and 1A protects them from liability for the recommendation. It would be hard to argue that a recommendation isn't speech.

I can buy this argument. But in practice how much does it matter? It's not illegal to say "you may like this terrorist recruitment video", especially when its just a generic recommendation algorithm making that recommendati

Yeah but you can't pretend this case had nothing to do with section 230. The question in the petition before the court was "Does section 230(c)(1) immunize interactive computer services when they make targeted recommendations"

It's unclear to me if this only covers "check out mycompany.com for alternative payment options" links, or if your link could be a "Purchase Now" button that goes right to a payment form. If the latter is also allow

I helped my kid put together a lego kit recently that did something interesting. It was a spaceship but the instructions were kind of a story, and there were parts where it just went “ok, now it needs to go faster, what can you add to do t

The HiSense TV they recommend underneath "Buy a new TV but don’t connect it to Wi-Fi" is NOT a good choice if you're not going to use wi-fi. It will regularly cut away from whatever you're currently watching and ask y

When you unlock an item in a battle-pass, you have to hold down the button for about a second to unlock it (and there's a little progress bar animation as it unlocks). This is great! it makes it much harder to accidentally unlock the w

It is not pay-to-win. There is no way to use actual money to improve your chances of winning. The only things you can buy are cosmetics, and there are no randomized lootbox/gambling mechanics. There have been some cosmetics that give a

That video on Fortnite seemed a little unfair to me. It's not nearly as bad as the pay-to-win ilk like this Mario Kart game.

There are people who would like the government to outlaw racism/hate speech on social media. The first amendment prevents that. I think r3trohack3r's point is that eroding those 1st amendment rights to outlaw hate speech would be

It's the difference between a movie critic who carefully critiques movies honestly and one that decides to write a negative review before even seeing the movie. Both of them are being "critical", but in very different ways.

It seems like even if they rule that 230 doesn’t protect this recommended content then it would still be protected by the first amendment (youtube videos unlikely to be “imminent” enough to qualify as incitement). So what would happen then?

Why would you think that? The law (230) has no requirement that moderation be non-partisan. Or are you making an argument about what the law should be?

As I understand it, this doesn’t mean rap lyrics can’t ever be used as evidence. It’s still up to a judge’s discretion, this law just provides guidance on how judges should make that call. Such that if the lyrics aren’t really relevant to t

But the whole point of a sick out is to send a message. I've never heard of a sick out that didn't at least have employees going "oh yeah I'm real 'sick' <wink wink>".
