Karpathy's Zero to Hero Discord is super friendly. Yannic Kilcher's is also cool and seems more active. I like the paper discussions, but it also has more meme-tier antics. This computer vision one is decent: https://di

Same. At first I was skeptical but whereas HN, Lobsters, etc are mostly baseless opining (mine included) and hot takes, there are discords where they have more signal than the infotainment I enjoy on HN. I’m in a few where people regularly

I’m surprised you’re able to expense your rent, but otherwise I agree. I like being free to arrange my schedule how I like. I’ve traveled almost 3 months out of 7 this year, take long weekends to go diving, etc. When I was W-2, even when I

I input Chinese everyday and it’s fairly simple. You input a phonetic sequence and choose the character. I already find it hard to use emoji. It takes forever to scan through the faces to find the one I want, and search online sometimes hel

It’s unlike language because words can fluidly be invented or fall out of use. Emoji is designed by a committee. If it expands to include everything it will just be unusable. Why not just use pictures at that point anyway?

I wouldn’t mind this becoming an international standard. Going back and forth between the west and Asia, no one is ever sure upon first look which is my given name and which is my surname because of it being written in a different order acr

I would guess that “too dangerous” is both hype and also means it utters insensitive statements. Not that it’s primed to topple human society.

Please don’t start posting LLM summaries. If anyone wants this summary they can query chatGPT themselves. It’s just noise.

This dice puzzle looks like it’d be trivial to solve with a little Python and opencv too. Rare CAPTCHA that seems harder for a human than a computer.

I’ve noticed the same thing living in Taiwan. They don’t fluoride the water, and in general people have pretty bad teeth with caries and decay that I never see in Americans in their 20s and 30s. The highly sugary diet probably doesn’t help
