> The new mantra with the cloud champions in my company is that cloud was never meant to save money. It’s a premium experience that’s about saving time. But that's true, AWS really took off when people were developping Facebook apps

It's obvious today to everyone, unfortunately we replaced that by KPI that are no better.

It's not about speaking up on a shitty idea, it's about not playing the game on a tool used to measure employee performance. That's a big difference. Especially because here we're talking about someone whose performance

When Digg started to do stupid things, everyone switched to Reddit. When Reddit started to do stupid things, some people moved to lemmy but it wasn't as clear cut... I guess distributed networks are always a bit harder to get traction.

My point is that the probability of getting that rich is really low. You need to combine hard work with incredible luck. A very few percentage will get 100x richer than a FAANG engineer. A typical founder, 10 years in, is less rich than he

Also "the standard way to get rich"... It's much easier to get rich by getting hired at a FAANG than starting your own company. You only get rich by starting your own company if you win the startup lottery. Otherwise you'

They don't offer you to replace RSU with cash, they don't offer RSU at all to anyone, but give much higher salaries instead. That's not the same.

"Don't put all of your eggs in one basket" doesn't mean "stay away from that specific basket". There is a middle ground between holding everything and selling as soon as it vests.

My approach is to sell ESPP right away (as they come out of my pay check and I still get a nice bonus out of it) however I usually keep my RSU and progressively sell to limit the risk. That worked well, I made a lot of money from sell at $1

That's exactly what people were saying of self driving cars 15 years ago. "We're so close, within 5 years we're have full self driving, and in 10 nobody will need a driver's licence!"

That's only if your defense strategy is to lie in court. But once you're caught, and there is evidence, you're best strategy is to admit your guilt. Or if you really think you can lie your way to acquittal, then you can succe

It's not the same level, you don't have to take off your shoes for example. In some airports (like in Haneda) you don't even have to pull anything out of your bag. Bag on the conveyor belt, yourself through the gate and you&#

It depends on the size, shape of your house and the materials, but in some case pure mesh wireless doesn't give an acceptable performance. The best is to have a mesh network backed by a wired backbone. The next best thing if your house
