That's the thing, if it's good quality a sofa should last a lifetime and still be usable. Not just 10 years. Of course you'll need to change the leather or do other repairs at times like Tim did, but we have to get out of thi

This is what people were doing, writing "RT:" with the other post copy pasted. That's why Twitter (and probably others) created the retweet functionality, it was created by usage first.

Fairphone 5. Yes it's expensive, although not quite as expensive as a flagship, but it's by far the most consumer friendly phone there is.

Yes, Space Quest was fun overall but dying was not. I think it was LucasArts who started to make adventure games where you can't die.

It's not just ads, it's a lot of B2B services that ban you if you don't have a strict rule on sexual content (or even nudity).

Also, as cool as it is, I don't think it would have been worth 3000DEM in 2001. Adjusted for inflation it's worth almost 3000 of today's USD. That was just a month after the release of the original iPod, that eventually broug

The Raspberry Pi is the best if you can find it at MSRP, but I haven't seen that for many years now. You can only find it for at least double and at that price it's not worth it. There are many alternatives that, granted, don'

So far I prefer the neutral tone of Alexa/Google Assistant. I like computers to feel like computers. It seems like we're in the skeuomorphism phase of AI where tools try to mimic humans like software tried mimic physical objects i

Still, they have the same purpose. Emoji were easy to implement in Japanese because they already had an input system, and all the UI to turn phonetic into single characters: はなー>花. From there it's trivial to implement はなー> as well. The

Golang is popular enough that development would continue even without Google. Could be a fork with a different name if needed, but it's not going anywhere. Too many companies are relying on it.

That's why I'm happy with CarPlay/AA for infotainment... ONLY. Maps, music, podcasts, that's all I need. I don't need my whole car UI to be taken over by my phone. My car maker solution to display and control speed,

I don't have an iPhone but I wouldn't buy a car without Android Auto - and it's usually the same cars that support carplay. Anyway it's pretty much moot because besides Tesla, all new cars support both Carplay and AA.

Android Automotive is already way beyond what manufacturers are releasing as "their own". So unless it costs a lot of money to integrate, not picking AA isn't about building your own that's better, but it has to be about

Honestly I would prefer to have a 2DIN hole where I can put whatever infotainment I want, instead of being stuck with whatever the car maker included, and that I can change without changing my car.

The Japanese grammar is pretty simple in fact, but it's very confusing coming from a European language because of how different it is. OK, once you get to the high level politeness (keigo) it can get pretty complex but you don't h
