I've worked with Thibault before he could self-sustain on lichess donations, he's a professional software developer and sysadmin and one of the best I've worked with. The people behind lichess are very much professionals, hav

I've had the opposite experience, about "it breaks and you have no idea how to fix it". On Linux when something breaks, you go to a forum and can understand exactly what's wrong and what's the right way to fix it. I

I've been using macOS for years (all my employers tend to give me a MBP) and the one thing I never get used to is the lack of magnetic borders for windows. You can never arrange them perfectly, they're always a bit disorganized.

I had my time using Arch, even Gentoo before that. It was fun but I'm done with that kind of "fun". Run your usual update packages and suddenly networking no longer works... Need to go to the forums to see which package broke

2004 was the year of Linux on the Desktop for me. That's the year I stopped using Windows and used only Linux on my desktops/laptops.

Windows Server is as good as dead. Even on Azure there are more Linux VMs than Windows. It's only used by a handful of companies still using MS server technologies by inertia.

I feel like I'm lucky to have lived this period of fast progress, not only for video games but internet as well. By contrast between 2010 and today the progress seems pretty slow.

The app can tell you which teeth are correctly cleaned (i.e. you spend enough time on it) and which teeth you forgot or went too fast. Personally I just used it once and ended up removing it, but I can see some people using it to ensure the

To see people doing computer science you need to go to a university and watch professors doing research. Also you can go to computer science conferences such as ACM conferences.

It's the other way around for me. I refuse to get a phone from my carrier. Phones "free" with a contract are just disguised loans. The loan is hidden in your monthly sub, which is why you have to be locked from anywhere from

I know people like to claim Apple designs and everyone else copy, but that's not what's happening. Everyone is converging to the same design, Apple like the others. They all borrow from each other until they all look the same.

I like the small radius corners of my Pixel 6a. I hope it will last because I can't see myself switching to a recent Pixel with those huge squircle corners.

iOS development is honestly the worse. It got a bit better with Swift instead of ObjectiveC but you still have to deal with XCode and a stupid process to sign and publish your apps.
