Yeah, it's not a guarantee. Sorry about your grandpa. However, it is the strongest preventative measure we know about currently. Just like we know exercise is one of them best things you can do for cardiovascular health as well, but it

This is laser based fusion, which is super cool, but it might be a stretch to expect 200x more efficient lasers. Still maybe there's other things you could do, like make a bigger fusion reaction. Hydrogen bombs do it, so maybe.

The biggest thing you can do for Alzheimer's is be physically fit at mid life. I don't suppose that's correlated with sex and Viagra usage... Oh wait.

I don't see that scaling anytime soon, still more than two orders of magnitude away. But never say never.

My brother got zinged with this. "You must repaint the house after moving out." He wasn't even there for a year. He's a good, law abiding fellow, so he did it. It was the last thing he needed to deal with on top of all t

Sure, but I'm not recommending anyone join the Amish, just pointing out it is possible to live without a lot of technological informed in your life if you truly believe you'd be better off that way. It would be extremely dumb, but

Why don't we say shutting down nuclear, banning fracking, and increasing reliance on Russian gas were all terrible decisions in hindsight.

I've been a software engineer for twenty years. What I know is a small circle in the Venn diagram of what there is to know. That doesn't give me anxiety. I learn new things every day, and I enjoy doing that. Nobody understands eve

The Amish get by all right. Seriously, if you really believe you're better off without technology, you can live that way without going and living in the woods. Saying you're better off without technology from a smartphone is hypoc

Says the guy hypocritically from his smartphone. Technology has solved so many problems. It's also created new ones. But we're way better off, there's no question of that.

It's literally a hundred lines of JavaScript, they'd take more time to learn the changes in a point release of React. I think it's a non issue. But the bigger thing is it's just for me, because I'm the only one work

You're implicitly assuming natural compounds are better than artificial ones. That's not necessarily true. It is maybe more likely to be true, since we may have evolved with exposure to the natural chemical, and our bodies may han

Completely agree, that's why this Lago is interesting to me instead of using Stripe services. I'd rather use Stripe for the bare minimum so I can implement support for a backup provider as well.

The point of the midpoint calculation is to find the mid-index usually (e.g. binary search, quicksort). So a and b would be unsigned. You're right about signed integers though.

You don't necessarily need that actually, there are carry flags that are set on overflow that you can check to get that extra bit of precision. In Rust you can actually do this using the checked add/sub/etc methods. It's

It's mathematically correct, but integers use truncating (floor) division. So you can lose a fractional 0.5 from both a/2 and b/2, which would have added up to 1, and now your result is off by one from (a+b)/2. In genera
