It's not shit you stole, not even shit your ancestors stole, it's shit someone who once occupied the same territory that you now occupy stole during a state of war. I think for the same reason we have a Statute of Limitations on p

There's a big difference between selling at a low and locking in that loss, than selling and watching the market move up afterwards. Especially if the low was artificial and extremely temporary.

If you sold shares during that window, you lost real money. There are also possible margin calls and effects on leveraged instruments. Certainly many did lose real money here.

I think the biggest objections to fertilizers are environmental? It's not like pesticides where people worry about residue on their food? They may not be overlapping then.

I'm Canadian. I know someone who died because their cancer became inoperable during the 9 month wait for a scan. Might they have lived on the US system? Maybe. Both systems have flaws. If I had to choose, I'd pick the Canadian sys

I don't see how it compounds. It's just a royalty stream? It must keep pace with inflation though (I guess through increasing sale price of Listerine over time?)

While true for England, things went a little differently in France with the French Revolution. I'm not sure if it started as you say, but it ended not much differently than a violent overthrow of the ruling class in other countries.

Ironically those kinds of things are the things AI deals with most easily. That's all math and physics. The hard part is understanding the environment and adapting the the unexpected.

There's an exception to every rule. I think the point is that energy may be a good signal. Are there better signals? Spotting talent is hard.

Or worse, like free mobile in France, force you to send a paper letter with a specific format to cancel service. I cancelled my credit cards instead and will let them try to collect internationally. They also let you cancel by phone, if you

> , the bulk of the excess gold in a money -> commodity -> money transaction comes from extracting value from labor Huh? Thats just speculation, why would gains come from labor? Would losses go to labor? I dont see a connection.

Evil is not an argument. It is a trivialization itself. One can argue that it's a bad thing (evil is still too strong a word I think.) But that's not what's going on here.

Short range fights might go electric. Long range fights may still use jet fuel, but hopefully jet fuel created using carbon from the atmosphere using renewable energy. That's carbon neutral.

Is iPhone production very polluting? I don't think that factors into it very much really. More cost of labor, proximity to suppliers, and domain knowledge.

It's less about cost of living and more about the fact that all the expertise and parts all the way through the supply chain are in Asia. Bringing that industry to the US requires bringing many of the supporting industries too. It'

Peak oil was all about the supply side peaking, and what that would mean in an environment of increasing, very inelastic demand. It looks like demand will peak first instead, which is quite different.

"in the same power envelope" is a pretty big caveat. Desktop chips aren't very optimized for power consumption. I'd like to see the actual performance comparison.

You'd be surprised. I don't know many people who understand it's actually a carcinogen. And I was unaware it's doing permanent damage to my brain. It's just so ingrained in society, many don't even question it

Why US only? Aren't you shrinking the talent pool 10% for no good reason by excluding Canada? I just see this with a lot of job postings, and as a Canadian I just skip on past them and they potentially miss out on a great hire.
