I'm blown away by the quantity and quality of responses here. Thank you guys so much for the plethora of heartfelt and honest advice. I can't respond to everyone, but I read every single comment here. You're right that I made

You answered my question with a dozen more questions :) Thank you, these are important things to think about and discuss with my wife. I appreciate the time and effort you took to respond to me. Good luck in your endeavours as well!

I like your glass half-full mindset. You're right, of course, I could frame it that way and specifically seek out roles that will help me gain knowledge and experience in the areas that I need them. Also I may meet people, encounter op

Thank you for being honest. I feel you've described me and my situation pretty accurately. I appreciate the advice and you're right - I need to learn the non-technical skills where I'm weak before doing this again. Or at leas

It feels a little obvious in hindsight, but I agree with this. I wish I'd done things differently. I'm not too old to learn the lessons and try again one day, but I think it's time to regroup and do the responsible thing for

This is excellent advice. Yes, I think you're right - I know what I have to do. It just hurts to shelve my dreams and play grown-up again. I think it's what's called for right now. Maybe in the future one day I find a co-foun

I don't think that's guaranteed. I work remotely and I just exclude companies that do cost-of-living adjustments. Those companies might end up paying less, but they also have fewer applicants to choose from. You tend to get what y

It doesn't "prove" anything, but it's a data point, and quite a lot more thorough than your dismissive comment. If you want to make a well supported counter-argument, please be my guest. It's easy to criticize, it&#

You're being very rude and dismissive. I may well have more SPA experience than you do. Don't make assumptions about people and then use that to dismiss something they say - we're better than that here on HN.

We can debate syntax but a Go or Python based template language is not conceptually any different to JSX based syntax. Both are essentially functions that take some input data and return the data formatted in HTML.

I like Hugo quite a lot, but I don't like Go's standard library templates. I wonder if it is possible to use https://github.com/valyala/quicktemplate with Hugo?

If you mean for function calls, I believe you're correct, not taking into account inline functions. However, for code generation Go obviously uses registers since way before the 1.0 days.

Presumably gun control means some forms of restrictions and registration programs, not outlawing of gun ownership. I really don't see a connection.

When Mexico masses troops on the border you'll be glad your weapons are unregistered? I don't see the connection here with the Ukraine and gun control.

It's premature to say what's practical with fusion and what isn't. It's entirely possible that we find a way to build an efficient hydrogen fusion reactor. In which case it might not make sense to travel so far away from
