If you are using Rails, Angular is rarely necessary from my experience. Even if you have a lot of SPA-type functionality, jQuery can handle it pretty well in the asset pipeline.

But it doesn't have billions of dollars of marketing power behind it to force the kool aid down dev's throats so we are SOL!

Clojure is beautiful and elegant. If not for it's lack of popularity and necessity of keeping up with JS constantly, it would be my most used language especially on side projects. Clojure is one of my favorite languages. If they get th

It's only kind of open source, and only partly. They call it open core, so saying open source outright is a bit misleading. The review feature is very new in GL, and that plus all of the things you are mentioning within "everythin

I think it was more the open letter to Github, which motivated both Github and GitLab (seen as an opportunity to compete). GitLab's roadmap yesterday surely didn't motivate or spawn the "New GitHub Universe," and I would

Neovim is just vim improved, like vim is vi improved. It's a fork. Nobody is saying vim is a broken relic of the 90's. It is by far the most valuable tool in my box as well. The community is the same, plus some dedicated diligent

Interesting. If I spent 20% of my salary on lottery tickets, how good would my chances be of winning vs cashing in my stock at a startup that goes public in which I made 20% less salary? And what would the payout differences be?
