This is unrelated but what's with the fascination with HN users and My Little Pony? I've noticed this on a lot of posts in the past few months.

Interestingly I can't find any news about his sentencing. Did it ever occur?

It's almost funny seeing almost every comment referencing AWS. Just another layer of abstraction...

This monopoly is actually disrupted in the province of Saskatchewan where there exists a government-owned telecom provider, SaskTel. The existence of this provider has driven down prices from the big 3 (Telus, Bell, Rogers) because they hav

It'd be an interesting to look at that, no doubt. Do they publicize that information in their quarterly reports?

I recently cancelled my Spotify subscription and switched to Youtube Music. Costs a couple $ more each month but has the added benefit of no more ads when I watch videos too!

The biggest security vulnerability is the human element. Proper education on phishing and the dissemination of personal information trumps all else, IMO.

There's so much to do in life, why not find a completely new skill to master? Or if you've got so much free time - consider becoming a teacher. It is arguably the most important profession that exists in our world and knowing you

The golden age of the Internet was also distinctly different because I'd wager that the majority of people online back in those days had some technical know-how. You knew you were interacting with people who could operate a computer we

I remember reading about his discoveries on the Puma chipset and that was actually really useful information when I was debugging cable issues myself. No idea what his most recent issue is but hey, thanks for your work bud, it was useful to

I'm the same - I can count on one hand how many times a year I take a pain killer. However, I have horrendous allergies all year round, so that balances out my suffering :)

A friend of mine recently bid on a house and came 2nd highest in the bids. The winning bid was $75,000 more than his... That's a good example of blind bidding driving up overall prices.

I run my own mail server and host all my websites on a cheap Linode instance ($5/mo) - it can be a pain in the ass to setup, but once it's up and running, there isn't much you need to do. Been running for 15 years now.

Well now I feel compelled to install a web server on mine. I've got a fully functional i486DX2 66Mhz, though the PSU is a little shoddy. Maybe we can create an old school banner network linking all these old computers together :D

My take on it is that as adults you mature and begin to abide by all the rules of society. Alcohol lowers your inhibitions and "allows" you to act like you were as a child.
