Hey, thanks! Kickstarter projects can only be started by US residents so that's not an option for me. Quoting from http://www.kickstarter.com/help/faq/creating%20a%20project#S... : "To be eligible to start a Kickstarter project, you need t

Yeah I actually didn't voice my opinion in my parent comment but I agree, this doesn't feel uncanny to me either. Whether something is uncanny or not is probably a subjective assessment.

The demo ( http://webdesignerwall.com/demo/css-social-buttons/ ) looks great but a button is pretty useless without an :active (pressed) state. Would be nice if it was built-in. There are some pressed classes defined but I don't think you c

The Uncally valley has to do with causing "a response of revulsion among human observers" ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uncanny_valley ). It's when the robot / fictional character feels real enough that it's not obvious it's a robot anymor

A similar click-jacking trick is used a lot for spreading videos like worms on Facebook, at least in French. Videos with baiting titles like "How could she do that?", "I can't believe she did this in front of everyone" and such. Most people

Google Search seems to keep things in its index conservatively, hoping that 404 and other errors are transient. I'm guessing the Google+ profile didn't appear in "featured links" (don't know the proper name for the special links at the top)

I can't do without an RSS feed either. Hacker News has the top spot on my iGoogle page and if I can't put Hackful next to it, I'll probably forget about it real soon.

If you want a proper thumbnail & description when people share your site on Facebook, consider using the Open Graph meta tags starting with "og:" which Facebook parses: https://developers.facebook.com/docs/opengraph/objects/

A/B testing is fine and all, but you might want to think of it from an ethical standpoint. Are you okay with requiring someone to shout "I like this service" to be able to use said service, on first use? Does it feel right to disclose the l

I concur. Requiring likes (in wording, even though technically there might be no enforcement) as a payment method for a service is a bad idea. The like is not customisable so you're basically putting words into your customer's mouth. I'm no

If we're going to keep moving more and more apps from native to Web-based, I think we're going to see a lot more of this (standardizing an existing service to be accessible over HTTP), since WebSockets can't connect to any raw TCP sockets (

I wouldn't be so fast in dismissing it, I just checked and it actually does more than simply putting an image over another: The cross-fade function correctly handles opacity and different image sizes. Plus it allows for easy use with CSS tr

I think you've made it clearer for me: the fact that it feels like a sentence plays a big part in the weird factor, it's like I'm addressing someone instead of citing a name for a service. But I guess it's a minor concern indeed. I just wou

I have found the Chrome dev tools to be much better usability-wise than anything Firebug had to offer. I also find it suspicious that Firebug is so heavy in terms of performance & memory, compared to the always-enabled chrome dev tools.
