They'd also likely pay the corporate tax rate in that case, which is 21%. Tack on 20% for the highest cap gains bracket, and you're at 41% federal unless you can work your way out of it with some loophole (e.g. carried losses on t

The whole point is about people seeking out a class just to get a date. Like, if you were interviewing someone for a job and they said they were interested in your company because they wanted to date your coworkers? Would you hire them? I w

Says the Car and Driver study I linked to which shows that normal cars (e.g. the CRV) don't experience improved acceleration or torque from high octane fuel.

Desal is 3.8 kilowatt-hours per thousand gallons while heating water 70 F to 120 F (reasonable minimum range) is 122 kWh per thousand gallons. You're absolutely right, this is a case where it makes no sense to use energy to save water.

I feel like that does not line up with whats in the post, though. Women are complaining. The guys aren't even fully enrolled in the class, they are auditing. It's the opposite of genuinely investing time - it's all some chara

I don't think most of the women in the class are dating. It's clear that a lot of them are uncomfortable. And frankly, we should privilege the interests of people who go to class to learn over those who do not. Even if just say 10

To me, the issue isn't that class is a totally inappropriate venue (for context, I'm a woman). I've been asked out in class when I was in college. I've also asked people out in class. It was never an issue. It does not i

It’s disrespectful because it ignores the fact that the women are not there to date, but to learn. The men are getting in their way by showing off and offering disingenuous tutoring.

And they don’t need high octane fuel to do so. It won’t change their acceleration.

Like all thing in the water-energy nexus, the right answer depends on whether you live in a water-stressed environment. In California this may be a great idea, but it is probably not useful in New York.

Driving a truck up a hill is not a normal use case. Driving a luxury car is not normal. Driving a sports car is not normal. These are all specialty vehicles. Normal cars do not need high octane fuel. Normal cars do not benefit from high oct

The issue is not corrosion but buildup, which detergents help to disperse. High pressure itself doesn't cause high sheer forces during fluid flow, rather high velocity does. Any regions of the system with low velocity w.r.t. the surfac

That's a specialty engine in new cars. In cars made today, you'd find that on a sports car. Older cars do often require higher octane gas because engine design was just worse back then. Less than 20% of new cars need high-octane f

I love that you've built a creative new user interface around AI. There was a post here yesterday about how chat-based UIs are lazy/the worst option. Glad to see people starting to build AI tools with thoughtful UIs.

It does have a higher first cost. You can buy a cheap Ikea desk for $50. Building the same thing out of 8020 would cost you over $60 just for the extrusion. Than you would need fasteners, a tabletop, etc. Or you could just buy a nicer looki

Lower octane rating isn't really "lower quality." We invented better engines that run just as well on lower octane fuel and then stopped wasting resources producing high octane fuel. Putting higher octane fuel in your car doe

It's just the detergents, but as I understand it the car enthusiasts know that. Those detergents do work. You don't need to use them all the time, though. You can just use them occasionally and it will breakdown the buildup from t

You can't really make wooden slotted extrusion though. There are also cases where getting things level quickly is super important, which is harder to do with slotted extrusion.

This is, in fact, just a (more expensive) version of 80/20 Ready-Tube with a wooden option, which is really nice (80/20 is aluminum only). It should be compatible with existing 80/20 hardware. 80/20 also offers project p

I'd tend to agree that psychology can be unscientific at times. Certainly a lot in that field is derived from very abstract theories (e.g. psychodynamics) that are not as falsifiable as one might hope. Yet, the comparison to astrology
