I wish everyone was just named James. I had a good friend named James and it’s much easier to call everyone that than to learn a bunch of individual names.

Is there a chance the URL appeared in an email newsletter or marketing message or similar that was sent to many people? I have a theory that this is anti-spam and anti-malware appliances scanning individually for each recipient.

Nah, that's almost certainly someone hosting something on Azure and not Bing.

How is "gmail yourself an encrypted backup" fine but "store a copy of the encrypted vault in a cloud service designed for this purpose" not?

A bad outcome here doesn’t demonstrate their policies are ineffective any more than a car crash demonstrates that seatbelts are ineffective.

You mean the equivalent of $1k based on the spot price of bitcoin? But I don't have bitcoin and my recipient doesn't want bitcoin. If I send $1000 USD to my friend in Australia using bitcoin how much AUD do they receive? And what

I don't even understand what you're arguing for. Accounts at the bank would still be denominated in dollars, right?

I usually send money across borders using Wise.com or wire transfers. What am I missing out on with bitcoin?

Lol a compelling argument for what? Like as an investment?

Anything’s possible but gold is useful and has intrinsic value. Bitcoin isn’t very similar. I don’t think one implies anything about the other.

No, it’s never been particularly useful. Do you believe a popular pyramid scheme has demonstrated utility? If a pyramid scheme made people a lot of money in the past does that suggest it has long term value?

This will absolutely happen some day

Instead of price history look at utility history: It’s never been anything other than a speculative asset or a temporary medium of exchange for criminals. There’s no future here. Future returns on BTC cannot be compared to the S&P!

Not if you believe BTC is wildly overvalued. I personally don’t think it sets a new record high, ever, and is mostly down from here

Prove secure to a corporate procurement process. Not a formal logic proof. Any use of Java will trigger additional diligence work to prove it does not use vulnerable log4j. So in this sense almost anything else is better.

It's a global company and yes some people have to work on holidays. Info Sec for a business like Experian absolutely necessitates 24/7 coverage. I can't believe this is even a debate.

You might as well just name it something other than USB at that point if it isn’t going to be backward compatible.

Surely they should be staffed to mount at least a minimal response to security incidents even over holidays? A malicious actor wouldn’t wait until business hours.

If you regularly actually test it, it should be fine. (Using a popular solution without testing it is riskier)

Just looking at last 60 days in MN seems a bit cherry picked and ignores confounding variables. Nationally people 12+ who were vaccinated were 3.2x less likely to test positive for covid in October 2022. https://covid.cdc.gov

The numbers are so small that it is hard to say -- several long-term studies are ongoing. All the evidence suggests the risk of Covid is far greater. I'm sure you know this, but covid causes significantly more cases of myocarditis than

As with Trump, I think there's a tendency to impute some master plan behind Musk's bizarre and offensive statements. His actions show he doesn't spend a lot of time on planning. Is it a signal? Sure. But also he's just a
