I don't agree with them and I don't think it's very nice, but anti-abortion protestors can and do scream at people walking into clinics or imply they're working with the clinic and hand out misleading brochures and "

There's actually been quite a bit of scholarship on how to draw district lines. We could certainly do better than the status quo, but it's a hard problem.

Imagine if the US banned a site just because of baseless fears about its content and the foreign ownership of its parent company. Hmm.

> FireChat is gone because FireChat was a threat to the systems it circumvented. This seems needlessly conspiratorial. Apps and companies disappear all the time and it's usually for boring reasons.

Doesn't that enable framing your opponent with intentionally sloppy fake comments? Happens in the black hat SEO world all the time.

This is standard practice for hacked wordpress sites. They only serve the compromise to organic search traffic.

There doesn’t seem to be any evidence to support this whatsoever yet it’s nearly impossible to disprove. Classic conspiracy theory.

More to the point it prevents your enemies from using the exploit against friendly targets. The tradeoff is that, once you find it, it's very clearly a backdoor. No way you can pretend this was an innocent bug.

Yeah but the critical piece here is loading Early Hints happens before the HTML is sent to the browser. So the server can change the HTML of the page based on what the browser does. (I wonder about the performance impact of this though.)

To be clear: they haven't "lost" any money here. They probably genuinely owe providers $2B. They just don't know exactly how much until the billing systems are back online, at which point they'll reconcile.

Ah fair enough. Of course you could configure your shell/editor/whatever to make control characters visible. Seems like if you were going to edit USV or ASV by hand you'd probably want a customized editor anyway.
