There's nothing wrong with jails. Its a robust technology that's been battle tested for a decade. They provide lots of awesome features that are useful for reasons other than security. In fact, the primary reason I use jails is no

For security probably. But security isn't the only reason that I choose an OS. OpenBSD's security comes at a cost. They are usually late to the party on non-security features. Many of the security features make OpenBSD much slower

The theaters backed out when Sony let them back out. Sony had contracts with the theaters that said that they would show the film. After receiving the threats Sony told the theaters that they were no longer bound by those contracts.

Having implicit shared state dependent on the requested type is certainly not consistent. To a reasonably experienced perl programmer one would expect the following: @globs = glob("*") # all matches $glob1 = glob("*

A lot of the standard lib constructs behave completely differently in different contexts. Often subtly. For instance, @globvals = glob("*"); # returns all matches to @globvals $glob1 = glob("*"); # returns the

PHP requires no setup is a myth. How many windows users can run php out of the box? None. You have to have a webserver + something like mod_php setup to get it running. How many novice programmers know how to configure a vhost with mod_php?

The nuclear rocket stuff was in the 50s and 60s. With the shift to stock-pile stewardship at the end of the cold war all of the labs became fairly focused on modeling. It also depends on what group you work for. I worked for one of the mode

You can install from a flash drive or single dvd. They've been working fairly heavily on the install process in versions 9 and 10. EDIT: I thought about this more after submitting. The many disks are likely for seeding the ports tree.

PC-BSD is probably your best bet. Its a distro of FreeBSD with tools to make it easier to use as a desktop. If you don't mind wading through config files then any of the big 4 (FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, DragonFlyBSD) should be good for

You can get a state issued photo id that is not a driver's license. It just happens that nearly everyone has a driver's license, which is also government issued, so its convient to combine the two cards. Though state issued ids pr

I recommend using a square of that foam cabinet liner stuff under your cutting board. It has more grip, you don't have to throw it out every time, and works far better for large cutting boards.
