692 examples, 0 failures, on both 1.9.3 and 2.0. This was the smoothest major upgrade yet, with very helpful deprecation notices. Thanks for all the hard work.

Acting quick and getting a fire under control often makes the difference between an emergency and a disaster. But only after you've made sure the building is being evacuated, and the fire department has been alerted. Don't be afraid to call

Last time I was in a bike lane I ended up in an ambulance with several broken ribs, as a car decided to take a shortcut. Still looking forward to getting back in the saddle. Bike lanes can be downright scary. Sometimes I feel alot safer rid

Absolutely. I'm using oh-my-zsh with the bundler plugin, which aliases all binstubs to a function that prepends bundle exec if there's a Gemfile. It works very well in practice. rbenv handles the correct ruby version, Bundler loads the righ

I find it much easier to simply explicitly require a specific version in my Gemfile if I'm having trouble with a gem, rather than having the extra overhead of managing multiple sets of gems. I think it's a more correct solution as well. You

Then wouldn't having a paper trail of your genome published on the internet provide reasonable doubt? Plus, I can't imagine it would be too hard for a disgruntled former lover to get a DNA sequence done with an old toothbrush or comb. Not t

The ability to run multiple rubies is a very welcome addition, and just in time now that Rails 4 drops support for Ruby 1.8. It's going to save us alot of hassle transitioning legacy apps over. Thanks alot.

Absolutely agree. I prefer the OS X rendering in all of these samples. On the Gmail screenshot, the capitals look vertically squashed and 'i' and 'l' are almost impossible to discern. The letter shapes improves at title size, but the letter

This looks really nice. I have 67 apps symlinked into ~/.pow, but only the top 29 are shown on my laptop screen, and scrolling sadly doesn't work. Any chance of adding "Open in $EDITOR" to the context menu? And .xip.io URLs?

The sample rate is 8kHz, which means the Nyquist frequency is 4kHz. Slowing it back down won't sound good, but frequencies below 400hz will be present. Here's a 8kHz .wav slowed down to 1/10: http://dump.elektronaut.no/post/ak52_1x.wav ed

Here's my solution for level 8: https://gist.github.com/ceb360baacb794f39686 It's a bit messy, as my original solution didn't work on the live server and I had to rethink it. My second plan was to reduce it to a handful of potential chunk

First line of defense is a Time Machine backup to a 1TB drive connected to an Airport Extreme. No-brainer if you're on a Mac, in my opinion. Tip: excluding my Chrome profile from the backups reduced the size of most backups by an order of m

I think you could pretty much substitute Python and Django with Ruby and Rails, and the article would still ring true. As a Ruby developer I've only had brief encounters with Python, but to me it seems like a language I would love for the s

I prefer a dark background in my text editor, but I think that would look out of place when integrated with the browser chrome. Going with a light theme is probably a good default.
