My main concern would be with querying. What is querying like in modern mongodb, or scylladb? I've seen couchbase ads showing a superset of sql, etc. Last I recall Mongo had a weird query system.

Yeah, it has a simple but full featured C API. I used it to provide the Nim wrapper for it.

I’m not sure the performance comparisons, but ThorVG gave me a binary library of 100-200 kb. Also ThorVG doesn’t have any external build requirements.

I discovered ThorVG recently and started experimenting with using it in Nim for a GUI backend: https://forum.nim-lang.org/t/13072

Great read! One fascinating to me is how the article frames the field as progressing once again now that researchers are getting over the quasi particle model. Reminds me of the elephant and rope adage: young elephants are trained with smal

That’s what the Illuminati wants you to think. Jk ;) Gotta admit the occult side does make for much more enjoyable movie and book plot lines though.

I found LLMs are really good at taking a web page and transforming it to markdown. Well rather commercial LLMs like Claude and Gemini are. Unfortunately I tried a bunch of hugging face mode on a I could run on my MacBook and all of them ig

I've been thinking for a couple of months now that prompt engineering, and therefore CoT, is going to become the "secret sauce" companies want to hold onto. If anything that is where the day to day pragmatic engineering gets

Yet despite this all the LLMS I've tried struggle to scale beyond much more than a single module. They're vast improvements on that test perhaps, but in real life they still struggle to be coherent over larger projects and scales.

Sure in some ways it's just neurons firing in some pattern. Figuring out and replicating the correct sets of neuron patterns is another matter entirely. Living creatures have fundamental impetus to grow and reproduce that LLMS and

It's not entirely infeasible that neurons could harness quantum effects. Not across the neurons as a whole, but via some sort of microstructures or chemical processes [0]. It seems likely that birds harness quantum effects to measure m

We already have a precise and accurate theory for protein folding. What we don’t have is the computational power to do true precise simulations at a scale and speed we’d like. In many aspects a huge tangled barely documented code base writt

What’s that got to do with coherent language design? Just because it’s somewhat open doesn’t mean it has consistent design. Then by all accounts Apple just forced through language changes needed for SwiftUI.
