Nah. Hard pass on even more AI inbetween me and the few bits of original content that are still out there. Reader mode and we're good.

Scanning for LLM garbage is now one of the first things I do when reading a larger piece of text that has been published post ChatGPT.

They are giving this away in portions of 1t, which isn't practical for normal consumers (unless they manage to pool somehow), so this won't have much of an effect on the normal consumer market. It's mostly directed at aid org

That makes sense, or something like `fish_update_completions` that you can call explicitly.

> trying to legislate good use into licenses It's also questionable to which extent restrictive licenses for open source software stay that relevant in the first place, as you can now relatively easily run an AI code generator that

Or it could cache the parsed manpages or reuse the information that fish already extracts from there for autocompletion?

Looks like a cool idea - what does it do with more complicated commands, e.g. two commands with a pipe? Does it pick the last part of the pipe?

OTOH, not having money also comes with upsides, like not having overpaid CEOs, managers, marketing people, or distracting side projects.

I get Applescript PTSD from this. Could never remember the "easier natural" way to write even small pieces of code correctly in it.

That was the big aha moment last year with Noscript for me. For a long time I avoided it because of the occasional case where I have to whitelist a site, which costs a bit of time. Now every site has so much forced garbage interaction that

Ah, the filterable schedule would be even better if you could filter on multiple categories at once. I just want security/hardware/science, and then I would have to constantly switch around, which is worse than looking at the full

Yeah I hoped it would blacklist all those spammy autogenerated SEO sites from search results, but it looks like a vendetta with anything AI or machine learning in general.

I would guess you don't need to start from scratch, just take the functionality, fork and put a Photoshop-like UI on top of it. That would already be so much better.

Meta, but it's kind of ironic that the main Ruby language website shows a "0%" Ruby symbol with javascript deactivated, and doesn't even show the code examples, which are all just links to some sandbox anyway.

For me as a casual 3d-modeler, my favorite thing about OpenSCAD is that I don't have to learn a new application the size of Photoshop with everything hidden 7 levels deep in some menu that is probably intuitive for some people who lear

I understand the semantics, I forget the syntax. So better tooling is great because it allows even retards like me to use TLA+ after forgetting the syntax details after 2 weeks.

It's interesting btw that Martin Kleppmann lists a couple of proof assistants, but not model checkers like TLA+. With him working extensively on distributed systems, I would have thought that would be on the list as well.

Yes, but the accessibility of TLA+, if you come from traditional programming languages, is quite harsh. I have 2 books about it and keep coming back to it every once in a while, but every single time there is a lot of investment into the ex

Very good point, also in classic art history, you often had a sequence of a period that perfected a certain style until it became formalistic, and then a subsequent one that broke off with the previous style, like Renaissance->Mannerism,
