Sounds like Casasanta gave them fair warning. Public fistfights like this, though, are pretty obnoxious.

Interesting story. He said/she said stories like this, though, are often difficult to parse. Regardless of what is fact, what is fiction and what is in between, the allegedly sheisty developer Daniel Pasco seems pretty flippant: http://twi

I'm a little suspicious of this dataset. $122k + 3.5% for a mid level product manager who joined Q1, 2011 at (presumably) Groupon? $320k + 1.5% for a C-level bizdev who joined Q1, 2011 at Groupon? 5% of equity to late entry employees at a c

There isn't a handbook: There are thousands. All of them written by people who made it, academics who understand it or people who were on the sidelines when it happened. The tricky part is: You just have to do it. The handbooks won't help y

This part of life is pretty difficult. You have so much promise. You can do anything. It's just a matter of picking a direction. That direction will shape you into a great ______. Or so we all thought... To a certain degree, it doesn't matt

I'm assuming it was flagged because it looked like blatant blog spam: A repost of a post you wrote and submitted a year ago with a linkbait title.

Anecdotes like this ("$100 in ads bought 1 book! It's the ad platform, not my product!") are slightly annoying, and saying 'ponzi scheme' 4 times in the first two paragraphs doesn't make it so. Our startup has had a large amount of success

I'll second this. Unless you're joining as CTO/VP of Engineering, 1% seems like a very generous grant. By all means, you should try to negotiate for more, but as the first employee at one startup and the third at another I was never given m

Both of the photos are confusing, but the photo depicting the wires more so. If you count the wires it seems right until you notice that the hacked up blue and white wires are not going to the lighting device at all. Or where the power (pha

You're absolutely right. People don't care how something looks. They care how it works... but a designer's job isn't to make something pretty; it's to make something useful and easy. Being pretty should be derived by osmosis -- a designer o

There's more to planning your press and media attention than your product, though. Here are couple of benefits from a good PR strategy: - Investors can hear about you - Showing relevant press from a reputable source is a great way to overco

MySpace's exit was $580MM. They had an estimated revenue of $300-$400MM in 2009. They might not be Facebook, and may never have a very high valuation, but the exit was very profitable for those involved. Twitter can just as easily be great

I think the link title misses the point of the article. The article is about getting unstuck -- something very difficult to do in any relationship. People get disengaged; routines become habits. The question she's struggling with is; how do

Again, there's no way to contact you personally regarding this really off-topic thread, so I'll reply here. I'll agree with you that there is an unfortunate rise in the amount of politically charged rhetoric lately, but I really don't care

I would say it's the same thing that makes anyone good at anything: The ability to take the body of knowledge associated with the field and not only synthesize it, but to riff on it and make new -- or at least -- compelling things. That mig

I think HCI -- even though it's a relatively new program in most schools -- is a response to a problem a decade late. For reasons good and bad, Academia can't keep up with Moore's Law. First, you don't want to build a major for every new te

I did gloss over your main point, sorry. Insurance does work. It worked in this case: The neighbors houses were saved. But when insurance is the ONLY means by which a burning house can be saved we should rethink how we treat emergencies.

You're ignoring that in almost every other instance where you could have had insurance, you receive assistance and pay the price. This is not insurance, this is a protection racket. EDIT: By protection racket I mean this: I think in this sc
