Apple's whole response to this has been unusually ham handed and unsubtle. Anybody remember how gracefully Apple responded to the massive price cut on the original iPhone? I'd like that Apple back please. At some point they've decided to sw

I've seen a pretty large number of similar looking "apps" on Windows. But usually in specialty software. The UIs on VSTis or a fancy schmancy Photoshop plugin for example are typically like this.

I've been looking for such a beast in the wild for quite some time. I've seen a few on CPAN that'll take a regex (or some type of expression, or some limited dialect of regex) and spit out a few random strings. Even Microsoft's REX tool ( h

How has your experience been with Azure? I've been looking at a few solutions for a possible new company and haven't really seen it on anybody's radar yet.

Exactly, which is why they put a condition at the end. > But Apple needs to come up with a permanent—and free—fix for the antenna problem before we can recommend the iPhone 4. If this was a piece of software wouldn't we all demand a pat

This is probably another advantage to the Android "lots of phones" strategy vs. putting all your eggs in one basket strategy. Even if you really like Apple's products, it's not like there's a good alternative phone you can turn to that's st

The regex as a value generator in this book is really quite good. I've been dying to see somebody write it up and stick it on CPAN.

This is a fantastic survey book. It's one of those few books that's exactly what it's called. You can always dive deeper on the stuff that's interesting/relevant to you after reading this book, but I have yet to find a book at this level th

One thing I do wish is that they'd stop mucking about with the security model in places that weren't important. Ever since they stopped allowing local xml files to render with stylesheets, my life has grown much harder.

Yes, thank you. I would like to point out then, that to this layman, "I would say that deconstruction consists most often of a micrological reading (that is to say, a very close reading of the actual words of the text, not not just the broa

You know what I'd rather have than a Win Phone 7? Something I'd pay money for. A decent mobile office app for my Android. That's the kind of thing MS should be focusing on now. They've missed the boat with the platform, time to pivot and st

I wonder how long it'll take before the current crop of bad management gets shown the door and we get some new blood. With the talent, history and resources of MS, they should be dominating anything with an integrated circuit inside of it.

Word on the street is that they are trying to position themselves as an Oracle acquisition. Their valuation seems a bit inflated, but I could see them selling for $300-500million.
