It was in the announcement keynote. They said it would be open, which never happened due to patent issues.

Turkish guy here :) I eat around 1300 calories a day. Lost 50kg (110 lbs) in 9 months doing that. 1000/day is too freaking low to be able to function properly.

I couldn't make a habit of using speech recognition. It somehow feels weird in public. You need to speak like a news anchor, hold the phone in an unnatural way (never liked video calls due to that too) and keep an eye on the recognitio

I guess it is https://asciinema.org but their samples have centered full screen. Maybe a CSS issue here. I'm not sure about the point either. Maybe if you embedded a small player it would be zoomed out and fullscreen would

Yeah this is weird. I like Apple products and I hate weird ass government taxes. (I run a company in Turkey, don't ask about the clusterfuck of corporate taxes here) They managed to find ways to evade taxes. Which I can stomach. But wr

Shouldn't they sue / negotiate with Ireland in that case? Given that they allowed Apple to evade taxes.

What parts do Apple get exclusively from Samsung and depend on their expertise these days? It seems like they go for redundancy, use two suppliers etc for common parts and chips. Which means these are built based on the designs of Apple. Sa

We did see some http errors and latency spikes on our servers at us-central-1c but it lasted for a minute or so, without any downtime. Have no idea if other regions or users had major issues though.

I never thought about it before but now I wonder if I should have a small stock just in case. Nothing serious, maybe 2 weeks worth of stuff to live on. That I can have and forget, not maintain indefinately. Anyone have something like that?

Could be used for proxying redis connections, be it for clustering or I don't know, add sophisticated access control or something. You could expose a memcached cluster as a redis server using this. (Not sure why would you want to do th

Note that it's a redis serialization protocol and tcp server implementation. It's up to you to define redis commands such as get, set etc. This can be used coupled with a backend storage to provide custom redis servers. It's

Also, I'm generally fine with language tradeoffs, If there is a good reason that I need to copy paste something, so be it. I'll do it. Go and Generics issue on the other hand, feels a little different to me. It is a solved problem

It seems like due to lack of generics I see more and more interface{} and reflection stuff in code bases. This is getting ridiculous. I've written a lot of Go. Tried my best to stick to what language provides but at some point you say

Out of curiosity, I went ahead and calculated deltas between jQuery 2.2.3 -> 2.2.4 minified versions. It generated a 512 byte delta string, instead of downloading the new version of 83KB, 512 bytes seems like a pretty significant optimis

I use httpie a lot. Whenever I'm testing some http headers, an api call etc, it has become my go to tool. Brilliant piece of software. If you haven't checked it yet, just give it a shot.

Gave mine (iPad, not pro) to my dad. Wife had one, I guess it's in some drawer or something. We lost it in the house. Never found a decent use case for the thing. Dad loves it though.

Anyone using the betas? I'm thinking about installing the iOS 10 beta to my main phone but couldn't find any decent info on its stability for a daily driver. macOS is more dangerous anyway so I'd only get into iOS beta.

I'm completely making this up; I'd guess most speaker generated audio would be from a compressed source. Audio compression generally cuts off frequencies that we can not hear. When we speak though, we must be generating a lot of i

A little off topic but I'm curios if most devs use debugging tools? My main debugging tool has been printf and it's stdlib equivalents on other languages for 20 years of coding. I used to do some C# dev and used VS debugger, I fee

Still a pretty conservative breaking change. Something you'd expect from a committee of people. Lodash has more wiggle room to make absurd changes in future.

Might be a good idea to use a polyfill (like core-js) to ensure the api exists. On modern browsers it would just use the native impl. Not much to gain though. Just importing lodash works fine.
