Community is not against it as far as I can see. A minority of vocal people are. There are a lot of people who liked the idea (including me) and those do not write 30 page blog posts because there is no need.

For an introduction to vgo and to see the other side of argument, watch the presentation from Russ Cox: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F8nrpe0XWRg I was sceptical but now kind of sold on the idea after wathing the presenta

I have been using iPhones since the first one and haven't had a reason to launch iTunes last 3-4 years I guess. Was this before then?

I had a couple keys on mine started to fail. They replaced entire top cap (aluminum case + keyboard + touchpad + batteries + touchbar). What a waste. Even weird, the touch id failed to activate when they assembled it so they replaced the ma

Our two cars both have decent autonomous breaking tech. They did activate in actual risks a couple of times. At least once one prevented a certain crash. They act up rarely. Just some anectodes; One of them thinks I will drive into a wall w

I tried to switch to XPS 13 from MBP a couple months ago. My main focus was to use WSL but it’s so freaking slow on disk access that sometimes “git status” on a repo would take 10-15 seconds while it’s <1s on macos or linux. How on earth

I don't think it is anymore, latest version depends on a custom cache implementation which does not seem to be based on redux.

I used to run Linux before switching to Mac, around 10 years ago. Recently got a Dell XPS 13 and installed Ubuntu (then Mint). Installing stuff on Ubuntu I used a couple of PPAs. How is this any different than curl|bash? You just trust some

Not sure about that. The trash can mac pro seemed like that at the time too. Let’s see when they’ll abandon this toy. My MacBook Pro 2016 keyboard finally failed beyond “usable” level and Apple has been keeping it in the shop, refusing a wa

Almost all of our furniture is from IKEA and I built all myself. I enjoyed the "building" part very much. I hate the furniture though. Generic shitty stuff.

EVs have a lot of smaller cells packed together and there is a heavy and capable Battery Management System attached to that, along with heating and cooling elements. AFAIK, most of the battery degradation on phones can be attributed to heat

We ditched managed kubernetes on GCP and rolled our own using kops on AWS. Things are more stable. ELB works better than Google Cloud load balancer which had random issues and meltdowns when we were there. Also support is better. I’d not go
