Fun read. My favorite line: "Six months later, in May 1984, Michael Larson sat beardily in the interview room for the Press Your Luck auditions in Hollywood."

Do you think the retrofit gas-to-EV conversions will help, as options there expand and improve?

The youtuber "knees over toes guy" seems to be largely acknowledged by The Internet as having a novel, free and effective way to strengthen and injury-proof your knees. Worked very well for me.

ADHD is also far over-represented, I think, which makes sense. a) novelty-seeking b) new problems to solve c) less likely to have a lot of formal education, etc etc.

Perhaps, but society has decided that the more something is addictive, the more the government should interfere to protect people from themselves. See: Gambling, cigarettes. We have causative proof that this is both addicting and harmful

I see the opposite. A nation state aggressively attempted to take over another, and the world reacted swiftly and largely in unison. The lesson seems learned, at least for now. If the lesson had been lost, everyone would have done nothing

Agree, this stuff is fun to imagine. Check out the many species that landed (and then kept evolving in isolation) in Hawaii. Seals, many birds, etc.

You're both right. Apple believes (as do many) that one way to achieve great shareholder profit is to differentiate yourself and perhaps get some pricing power is by truly prioritizing consumer privacy. They're both true.

I found ADHD to be a huge advantage as a founder - hyperfocus + constantly solving NEW problems was stressful but also fun and energizing, whereas to others it could be perhaps just stressful.

Seems like if you go back in time, someone who is impulsive + easily bored etc would be an evolutionary advantage to their tribe (what's over that hill? let's go see!) if not themselves.

100% right. The challenge is it's not cheap, and someone has to pay for that and it's either government (probably should be, but we're waiting...) or the private sector, and it seems to be a hard revenue model to make work.
