Just to chime in: I use this all the time in testing, and it's never failed on me. You have to do the right thing in your app to watch for these changes and gracefully reset and all, but I've nuked the container (from Settings->iCloud

This is my congressman. Here's why he's interesting: He doesn't miss any votes, and he explains every single vote (even boring, inconsequential votes) on his Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/repjustinamash Here's an example of a bo

I have a probably untestable hypothesis that, were you to come up with some measure of units of software output, Excel would be the most-used program in the business world. Outlook would like to have a word with you...

I was wondering if this sentence was a typo. I thought he almost certainly meant the reverse: And if not morally wrong, then at least legally wrong.

Just make sure node is only executable by a restricted group of users. This limits it both on the basis of which user can open ports and which programs can.

That's true--since node can run arbitrary code for you, you'd want to restrict execution of node to a known set of users.

This only grants that right to a single executable--it doesn't allow everyone on the system to bind to low port numbers.

Alternatively, you could grant the node binary the ability bind ports < 1024, using setcap (Linux only): sudo setcap 'cap_net_bind_service=+ep' /path/to/nodejs Then you don't have to ever run it as root (at least not for the pu

(former Exchange team member here) It turns out that, for most people (in a corporate setting at least--not sure about college campuses), the problem is that they don't even know how many people they are sending their message to; distributi

It appears that elections.nytimes.com is actually hosted on AWS (in multiple regions using Route 53 latency based routing), so I imagine they have the ability to keep up with the load.

This is why I tell people that my (pretty large) Nikon D7000 is unobtrusive. Though it may be physically large, it doesn't get in the way of whatever I'm actually doing . I can put it up to my face (it's already on, because I can leave it

Further clarification: this is correct, but (if someone is reading this and thinking about doing it), you can install the free version of CrashPlan and it works just fine as a backup server.

PSA: with CrashPlan, you can simultaneously backup to your own server(s) or external hard drives right alongside their service. You can also backup to a friend's computer (this was actually their original business model--P2P backup).

That extra binary data starts with an HTML comment tag (<!--) which is never closed, so it makes sense that it is ignored. Edit: Misread your comment...the bytes at the beginning of the file are hidden by CSS (as pointed out by others).
