To rebel. Also because young people have less life experience and are therefore more gullible. 15-20 years into their adult lives they begin to see that the government is useless and wasteful and exists primarily to serve itself. They also

Anyone who takes startup CEOs at their word has never worked in a startup. The plasticity of their ethics is legendary when there’s a prospect of increasing the revenues.

They usually start as democrats to rebel against their parents. Later in life a lot of people turn conservative. But it doesn’t really matter if they do, since if they stay (or become) liberal they will have fertility well below replacement

Here’s what’ll really cook your noodle: in the US fertility is non-uniform by party affiliation. Conservatives tend to have more kids (duh). Think about that next time someone says “demographics is destiny”.

Problem is, the moment they release weights someone will fine tune it to generate porn, including CP. So I wouldn’t hold my breath for the weights release - no legal dept will sign off on something with this much fallout potential.

Uncle Joe will just stop assuming that just because there’s a video it is real. That hasn’t been the case for decades. About time uncle Joe caught on.

“Creator” is used loosely in such cases. For models of this scale it’s not uncommon to have a dozen people working on just core model design, with a lot more working on data, optimization, evaluation, tuning, alignment etc. Going to Google

That’s how it was for me circa 2004-2005. The only way I could get anything real work done was from home, after hours. During the day all we did was sit in meetings and report status to each other and to the higher ups. Worse, then the high

Self hosted Immich doesn't need end-to-end encryption, and the lack of it enables a number of very useful server-side features. If your end-to-end encryption has not undergone a security audit, it's as good as if there was no encr

I've been using Immich for over a year. "Maintenance" boils down to weekly docker compose pull and a restart. There's semantic search, deduplication, mapping, face recognition etc etc. I do not miss Google Photos at all,

Utterly pointless to argue this since we do not have access to the totality evidence and testimony that the Court and the jury had access to. Could it be that they were wrong? Unlikely but yes. Is it likely that we here are “less wrong”. No

I guess we’ll see soon enough who gets the most credit for OpenAIs success and who’s disposable/replaceable. Sutskever in particular has quite a bit of mythology about him. Let’s see if he can fulfill all that.
