Apple just seems to be bleeding talent left and right. I wonder what's going on over there to cause people to leave when the job market is as uncertain as it is right now.

This is beta version. By the time they're done with this it'll be measured in single digit dollars, if not cents.

I work in this field and I would bet that in 5-10 years the situation will not be much different compared to today in terms of employment unless we invent AGI all of a sudden, which I don't see any signs that it'd even remotely ha

Claude is better most of the time on the simpler stuff, but o1 is better on some of the more difficult problems that Claude craps out on. Really $40/mo is not too much to pay for both.

It actually almost never does. To see that you'd need to benchmark. It's pretty difficult get good utilization on GPU on either compute or memory bandwidth side. A lot of kernels irretrievably fuck up both. You need long, coalesce

Biden (or whoever actually runs the country, since it's most definitely not Biden) is trying to undermine Trump's plan to turn H1-B into an auction, which is how it should be run, IMO. That's all there is to it. This will be

There are a lot more photographers now than there ever were painters, and the size of the industry is much larger than it used to be. It is true that our work will change, but personally I think that's great - I don't enjoy the in

Well, I know what will happen within about a year long time horizon. As far as at least developer assistance models are concerned the difference at the end of 2025 is not going to be dramatic, same as it was not between the end of '23

See, the thing is, to determine which abstractions are "right and proper" you _already need a software engineer_ who knows those kinds of things. Moreover, that engineer needs to ability to read that code, understand it, and plan

Nice to see my comments on their proto3 design doc vindicated, lol. There were a lot of comments on that doc, far more than what you'd usually see. Some of those comments dealt with the misguided decision to basically drop nullability

I'm a principal SWE with 25 years of experience and I think software today is comically bad and way too hard to use. So I think we can get engineers to write better software with these tools. The talk of "replacement" is goin

Feel free to suggest a more reliable proxy if you don't like this one. What this means is your chance to find a person who knows/has experience with JAX are very low.

It's scared. I'm afraid $1M won't be enough to atone for $300M you spent when you put your thumb on the scale in 2020, Zuck.

I don't get OF. Grown men pay to beat their meat to strangers. And with this you wouldn't even be talking to a real person. Just go to a goddamn bar and meet someone. I'm a nerd, and not particularly good looking, and even I

Not really, no. Over the past several years, JAX was used in only 3% of top publications. PyTorch in 60%. There's no trend to suggest that JAX has "reduced the need" for anything, except for Google itself. https://

> While US has excellent education The US has absolutely abysmal primary education while spending eye watering amounts of money on it. This is plainly obvious to anyone who has ever lived abroad with kids.
