The comments on this post feel like a lot of ass-hattery. Lot's of "it doesn't work for me, so it's shit" I do web dev stuff, and I have had zero issues switching to an m1 other than lack of ram on the the 8gb model

That doesn't sound like a good ORM. They should be lazy until you access the relevant data. That said. This is where the knowing what's going on behind the scenes matters.

Yes, there definitely need to be escape hatches for situations where you need to write sql. But that should be rare. If you're commonly bailing to raw sql, I'd say there's something wrong, probably a poor fit of the orm to th

Personally I don't think there's anything wrong with them. They're just tools. but like any abstraction, if you don't know what's going on behind the curtain, they can turn into foot guns quick.

No one sees the backend. So who cares? /s With ORMs at least, the developer is likely either thinking about limitations, or really needs the guide-rails an ORM provides. I doubt a lot of front end engineers, many of which probably have

Running an email server, that is secure, is not easy. In the mean time, before you're qualified and know what you're doing, your mail server is a danger to others. From being an open relay through just plain unpatched security vul

What's not clear immediately is that this isn't a standalone offering. It seems to be meant for use with their hosting service. So you'd already be in the ecosystem, not trying to hook it up to like a netlify page or somethin

If you're writing software for an audience of "one" (one organization or such) Is it really that bad to have it be tightly coupled? You're likely writing something so specific that no one else will be using it anyways

This is contrary to most testing tutorials and documentation I've read. I get frustrated and forego a lot of testing because the idea of mocking out basically the whole system in order to unit test is insane to me. If function A calls

Perhaps the solution is add more pink? When talking about this stuff, we really need more concrete examples if designers and developers are going to have a chance of fixing the issue.

This is.... questionable at best. Picking fights to prevent diversity? This really feels like they're trying to intentionally prevent minority and the underrepresented from joining this college. Am I reading it wrong?
