I feel like a lot of comments that I’m reading, that contradict each other, are “armchair experts”. It’s not like you’re telling someone they’re an idiot for writing a rest api. If you’re making medical claims, maybe establish some credenti

I think this is a case where blocking first might be a better option than anything being unfiltered. better to get a call as to why they can't access fastmoney.ru then to have someone install a plugin in order to pay this western union

A Line Of Business app. With questionable specs. Where inputs are cross dependant and need to be filtered. Some fields being foreign keys to other models.

Sure it will. Just checked, found a bunch of articles with 5 step instructions where one of the steps is hold the power button down.

In addition to ublock and adguard, you might really want to setup a pihole, to filter out anything else that might have embedded browsers, like facebook, etc.

The date on the article is actually important here. Music recording is MUCH different then it is today, 20 years later. The best you could do for a home recording was a (comparative to today) shitty 4 track cassette recorder. You really nee

It’s not the cover letter that’s really the problem here. It’s the cult like exuberance that seems to be demands by GP and sibling comments.

So, let the spam happen, and remove it after the fact using humans? Or hold all submissions until a human reviews it?

It’s not about revenue, it’s about making spam unprofitable. Charging 0.25$usd is enough to make spam not worth it. It also attaches an identity to the posting.

The entire recording industry uses plugins. The majority of the time a DAW ships with things like EQs, compressors, etc, they are actually some kind of plugin. Plugins don't suck, your opinion is not everyone else's fact.

There’s evidence that cloudflare is what, threatening to ddos people if they don’t sign up? What would need an experiment to prove that? You would just have the proverbial receipts Or do you have proof that they’re actually ddos in people?

Read what I said again. It's not about what you know or not. This kind of precedent could easily be applied to things it shouldn't be, or rather things you don't think it should be. try explaining all this to someone unintere

No, the thread stems from above where it's basically indicated that free things should be illegal if there's things being sold off the back of it. The precedent things like this would create could easily be extended to other thing

You don't think anyone else has any reason to launch a DDoS? That it's all done, even partially, by cloudflare? that's a hell of an accusation

Can you share the DIY alternatives for DNS, DDoS protection, etc? At least the core cloudflare functions. Of course, having DDoS protection on the machine being flooded is a non-starter. DNS would have to be highly available as well. And it

Sure it is, just like docker, the code might be free , but there’s plenty of enterprise support contracts. I imagine a lawyer could convince a jury of people who have never heard of hacker news, gnu, etc that this is true.
