My impression was that the pre-change cancellation rate was based on all customers over the lifetime of the product (they did calculate the 61 day average from this), whereas the post-change was only for the new customers in the last two mo

If the average time to cancel is 61 days, and they waited only 2 months since the changes to calculate the new cancellation rates, it stands to reason that the cancellation rate will rise over the next few months, right? Assuming a normal d

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I understand TCP enforces packet order and works really well for large transfers etc. But when writing a game where people interact in "real time" through their browser via websockets, anything to get TCP latency

Sorry I didn't read your comment properly. If nothing else works, maybe you can develop with a Linux VM with a platform that already has a good websocket server (say, node.js), and host on any VPS. Good luck.

This and fact IE/Opera do not have websocket implemented, makes me come back to good old Flash technology See socket.io for something even better.

Thanks, I spent some time trying to figure out how I could configure this retransmission timeout. The SACK solution you describe sounds like a great idea. Is that the optimum solution though? Could one, say, have two TCP connections and sen

How so? I'm really curious, do you have any links detailing the upcoming availability of UDP in the browser?

Yes, the factored version is much clearer. Though you want to make sure the refactored version is equivalent, which it isn't in your case due to a change of order.

This is a cognitive problem. I also read you as doing a "double-take", even though you clearly wrote "triple-take". Another cognition issue. The unthinking mind reacting automatically without consulting our conscious. The solution is obviou

Sure, except if you've worked with full web pages made of tables throughout, you know how they usually suck in terms of maintenance and how hard it is to make changes. It's also just a lot more boilerplate compared to doing it "the right wa

vixen99 is saying you can't be a little unique, or very unique, but simply unique. Just as nobody is "slightly pregnant". No need to be insulted, though you may disagree with the assertion.

That is pedantry. I understand your point, but when people say something is "very" unique, they mean it's not common, or is unusual in some way. "Slightly unique" makes little sense, but "somewhat unique", while somewhat awkward, can mean
