What's an American name? Are you referring to WASP (White, Anglo-Saxon, Protestant) names?

Cool! I like the way this kind of demo breaks the fourth wall of its medium. I'm actually surprised that I haven't really seen this kind of thing in demoscene, where it's always just opengl craziness within the confines of a

Yeah they confirm that at the bottom of the linked page > Furthermore, by leveraging tools like MapAnything to generate metric points, ShapeR can even produce metric 3D shapes from monocular images without retraining.

ELI5 has meant friendly simplified explanations (not responses aimed at literal five-year-olds ) since forever, at least on the subreddit where the concept originated. Now, perhaps referring to differentiability isn't layperson-access

I hate to sound like a webdev stereotype but surely the parsing step of querySelector, which is cached, is not slow enough to warrant maintaining such a build step.

I smell the bias-variance tradeoff. By underfitting more, they get closer to the degenerate case of a model that only knows one perfect photo.

A lot of medical devices still run XP as well unfortunately, because of old proprietary software for expensive equipment that doesn't receive updates anymore.

Great article! aside: I've never seen Stack Exchange used as a blogpost medium (which normally this kind of write-up would be) and I like it! It's still formatted as Q&A so people with the same question can find it, and what&

Very cool, I've never used a slide ruler but I can see how in logarithmic space, that 3.3/2 scaling factor simply becomes a distance you add. Makes me want to get one now, because I like the concept of memorizing ratios rather tha

That's still consumption of images rather than participation in reality. Kids can absolutely read in excess as a form of escapism. Books are easier than dealing with real life when someone else does the thinking and problem solving for

I find this site so fascinating, seeing how all the massive power lines are hooked up to far-away power plants and gradually have their voltage stepped down as they connect to consumers. All the undersea cables and pipelines I didn't k

Yeah thin clients [0] make a lot of sense with this kind of workflow. If you only really need text, living in the terminal and browser, it might make sense to use eink for eye comfiness and outdoor readability, something like this hack: ht

It's more like locking humans up in the matrix. Note lines like "preventing it from leaving the apparatus" in the build guide. Would an ordinary gamer be restricted from exiting such a contraption?

What does a screenshot of a game tell you about the engine or the developer experience? If you can push triangles and run shaders you can render anything.

I genuinely don't understand the purpose of these agents. Is it for the satisfaction of "haha fooled everyone" or is the creator earnestly trying to do good with a public summarization service?

Photo sites like Flickr do extract EXIF data and show it next to the image, but who knows if the scraping picked them up. Looks like specific f-stops don't actually make a difference for stable diffusion at least: https://ol
