The US just took away the constitutional right to bodily autonomy. That kind of internal oppression of ones own citizens is absolutely beyond terrifying, and obviously a bigger worry for social stability. Europe is not at war. War in Ukrain

There are rules against car registration/importing to prevent this. Or else everyone in Western Europe would just buy and register their cars in Latvia/Romania etc.

Out of interest, how so? E-bikes are very popular in the Swiss countryside. I would have thought an e-bike would actually have more use in Devon, than in a relatively flat city like London.

Europe is a big place, 45k might be a lot of money in Romania, and it is below minimum wage in Switzerland. Software Engineers will still be pulling 100k+ in Europe with those 2 hour days.

Kids walk to and from school at like 5 years old in Europe. In some countries they also walk home for lunch, since there is a break with no childcare where they have to go home to eat. If children are never allowed to learn independence, th

I've never understood this. If you work from home you can also just... go walking outside? In fact you could even go walking for longer, since nobody is checking for your presence and you haven't wasted time commuting. I'd ra

Battery settings probably shows your screen on time? In independent reviews, the iPhone mini (12 & 13) seemed to get closer to 5 hours screen on time. 6 hours or more _per day_ sounds absolutely insane though, you must be overestimating

The 5 was already available here when I purchased the 4a (Europe), but the 5 was twice as expensive - which is hard to justify for "a bit better". A headphone jack is much more useful for me personally than 5G, so I happily saved

I too have an M1 MBP and XPS 13. I pretty much always use the XPS. Side by side, there is no noticeable difference in speed for my everyday work. The MBP is more efficient for sure, but I get 8+ hours of battery from the XPS which is good e

Exactly. Which makes the subsidies a funnelling of taxpayer money into the pockets of landowners - obviously this is not good, but if you have a population of majority landowners, then this is a sure-fire way to get votes.
