Regarding Baldur's Gate 3 on M1 Pro, can confirm, the performance is just amazing.

I stopped in the middle of reading the post just for this. It was so distracting I was unable to focus on the text. It's a fun gimmick, but the result is that someone who wanted to read the post, stopped in the middle.

Both really. We mostly play on lan, but if people want to they can play online with decent latency. All competition still happens in lan.

It's a pretty fun read on Wikipedia. Honestly I had no idea, there were other people doing something similar. Well, somewhat similar. We take a 2 hour break and shut down the computers in case a thunderstorm is passing overhead :D.

Sure thing. So a few notes, you can host CS:GO and Dota 2 games on lan. You do have to be logged in to steam and have a network connection, but the games themselves can be played on lan, so the outbound connection doesn't have to be fa

Me and some friends host a pretty weird event, the name of which loosely translates to "Field Lan". We set up tents, generators and an antenna in the middle of a field in Estonia and compete in various games for 72 hours straight

So wait, doesn't this also indirectly imply that we will never be able to decipher neural networks of sufficient size for the general case?

The funniest thing I've seen recently, is government API services that have been put behind Cloudflare. Which means, you literally cannot access them without a browser. Let me reiterate, you cannot use machine-to-machine APIs without a

We built pepchecker.com (Saas) as a weekend side project back in 2019 and have been slowly adding functionality over the course of a few years. It's now profitable and growing pretty rapidly. If we had put more effort into it, I think

A lot of communication between people is non-verbal. Also, the interaction with drawing software is not the natural way for people to convey their ideas, we tend to use our fingers to point, to draw etc. For some types of problems, I stand

Well, I do this every other day. The days where I need to focus on deep work and just grind things out, I stay home. The days where I need to be creative, I go to the office and get in front of a whiteboard.

Some problems are solved faster by multiple people getting together in front of a whiteboard and drawing. For those kinds of problems it’s useful to have people in the same room until we have AR solutions that can fill that need. Also for s

Yeah, so from what I can tell, with the addition of Stripe App Marketplace, we have some addons that can handle the VAT issue. But I have not tested them yet. As for filing the taxes, you still mostly have to do that with your local governm

Sure thing. Stripe is in some sense feature complete. You can get almost anything you need out of the box, including taxation related features. They have good documentation for development, simple setup for testing locally. I am not really

A few years ago we set up https://pepchecker.com . It's a relatively simple API/Dashboard to search for politically exposed people and monitor sanctions. We rolled it out a separate product, because we kept rebuilding

I was more referring to having a second product, that leverages the first one. So for example, if you have a simple 3D editor that doesn't compete in features with high-end 3D editors. What you could do, is have a game, where amateur 3

For not fully featured 3D editors (which takes so much work, I won't even get started), I think the trick would be to bundle it with something that uses the output and that part generates the revenue. Roblox is a great example of that.

Sad to see it go, but I perfectly understand. You may or may not remember, but we had a chat about some of the backing tech about 5 years ago. I am one of the founders of 3dc.io and we are shutting it down for similar reasons. Ironically ou

About 2 weeks ago, I was searching for an alternative to Elastic for this exact use case. Funny how the world works, now I have my answer: "someone has built it".

Maybe I am missing something, but wouldn't a regular random number generator with a defined seed work just as well? If the problem is determinism, then using a deterministic seed should give the same result.

There is a wonderful historian who talks in length about Roman history with some basic visual aids and animations. I'll leave a link to the playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s9qlNBBoFG4&list=PLODnBH8ken
