Then why do people from suburbs flock to the cities for their entertainment? Or build their suburbs right on the edge of cities? Suburbs are boring. I grew up in them and much of my family still lives in them. I understand why people live i

This is what I do now and I enjoy the services a lot more now because I don’t browse. I just make lists of things I want to watch and subscribe accordingly.

Also, why do they always show you items you’ve already watched alongside things you haven’t? How many people are watching the same movie or tv series multiple times each month? The UI is definitely a big reason I cancelled.

They could provide a more positive user experience if they overhauled their terrible user interface. They focus too much on making you believe there are thousands of choices, when it’s probably closer to 10-20. This is clearly evident in ho

I think it’s different depending on who you are and what systems you have access to. The Keybase CEO is much more vulnerable to targeted attacks where 0-days would be potentially worth the cost.

Which chrome book would you recommend? I want something portable, that I can run Linux on, but I don’t travel a ton so I don’t want to spend 1k.

I also am trying to read more books and unplug, but Reddit isn’t so bad if you find good sub-Reddit’s. The main site and default sub-Reddit’s are definitely trash, though. The same is true of YouTube if you heavily scrutinize your subscript

I don’t think the general public cares in the same way people on this forum do. But, I do think they would care if their photos ended up on a billboard or used in marketing material without their explicit permission. Most understand that th

Companies "reviewing" their competitors, or at the very least, trying to tag on to their SEO is something I'm seeing a lot of lately. I just don't think most people, when they search for "[product] review" want

Most people I talk to don’t want to dedicate 70 hours of their life to a mediocre show that is clearly manufactured to last 70 hours. Frasier was from a different time, when there weren’t many choices, so committing to one show for 10 years

I cancelled but I sign up like once a quarter now, if that, to catch things I want to see like Stranger Things. But the quality of 90% of the content is pretty weak and seems to be getting worse. For that same price I’d rather rent two movi

That’s not what I meant. Of course it’s better, but not as much of a necessity when you live in a city.

I agree it could be more efficient, but isn’t there an argument that it’s better than all those houses firing up their individual cars to go to Target Or Walmart?

This was the original reason I started Prime — guaranteed two day shipping. Now both the offering and price has been bloated to the point it has little value to me anymore, especially because the delivery windows are all over the place and

Although I agree that more people should cancel Prime, this author isn’t the target market exactly because they live in a city. I also live in a city and can easily get by without Prime. I can walk to everything I need. Prime makes the most

This /8 won’t make a dent in that problem. Until every single device is capable of IPv6, IPv4 will continue to persist.

Great post! Can’t think of many companies that would spend this much time explaining regex. I was affected by this outage, but I really appreciate Cloudflare taking the time to explain the problem in this much detail. Given their own system

Agreed. That part bugs me. Cities are effectively subsidizing sidewalk space for these scooters that we paid for with tax revenue (and continue to pay to maintain). Most business that want to capture a parking spot need to pay for that priv

The way I see it, it’s about where the liability risk is placed and how that changes behavior. Because chargers use personal vehicles, Bird can turn their eyes to those people being unsafe. If Bird had its own employees charging them and us

Scooters, including by Bird, have dramatically increased the amount of street obstacles one can run over. It’s absolutely relevant because the entire scooter model is “blanket the city with them” On top of that, because many of the chargers

I completely agree. It used to be a very simple piece of software (I’ve used it since the beginning) and they’ve progressively tried to add more UX changes which only confuse and add reliability issues. Simple tasks like resetting a passwor

Well, let’s compare tax rates the foreign companies pay with the local French companies. Something tells me that the American companies are making out like bandits compared to the French ones that have to pay all local taxes. I see this as

This sort of mentality means that nontechnical users will never be protected. Someone needs to take an active role in security and this kind of action is part of it. If the app developer is skirting the issue, Apple should be the company to

You’ve used past tense in all your examples. Is it still true? As Apple has moved more towards a system with GateKeeper where apps must operate in a sandbox, this behavior seems less acceptable in 2019. I don’t want apps having complete acc

Yep, they have lost my trust too, especially with their terrible response on the blog. And I don't trust that they simply won't remove my mitigations if I have that app on my system again.
