Post-C++ 11 code is so very different from pre-C++ 11. Things are so different that I cannot even understand many of the constructs anymore. I realize C++11 is 5 years old now but still. I fear the same thing might happen to javascript as w

What is pichai's claim to fame? It's very hard to figure out what exactly he has done to suddenly rise up to the top. Just a very likable person? I am yet to see anything visionary from him.

Not sure why you are getting downvoted, seems like a honest question.

Why is this on the front page? Completely void of meaningful content. It just throws around some cpp standards :/

I am against the idea of anonymous voting. There is too much gaming involved here. I think only HN accounts that are identifiable to a real person should be allowed to vote. Not sure how you can enforce this though.

I will try to believe Mark about making the world a better place when he builds a world that is not about ads and mining our data.

I am suggesting the frontend developers developing using angular/react code do not require to implement graph search algorithms. What algorithms have you seen in practice in web frontends? I have seen nothing even minor, not even binar

Maybe your idea of a front end developer differs from mine. I don't agree that front end developers need to code BFS. They just need to know that graphs can be searched, that should be it. Frontend devs can do many tasks that systems e

This is looking fantastic. IIUC, the authentication section is telling me that each user will have a GPG key instead of a username/password. Is passbolt able to pull gpg keys of a user from some external source automatically?

Ok, here's a pro tip: never go to tech interviews unless you know exactly what you are getting hired for. If the recruiter cannot give you this information, they you know this is what is in store for you. This is a game - some are good

Interesting this is a google project. https://github.com/google/xi-editor/blob/master/rust/rope/sr... was quite interesting to read (for someone who has never looked into rust)

What makes this different from any other CMS? Tightly VR integrated? If so, what exactly does that mean? The example shows some revolving globe. I am not sure what to make out of it.

I use tiny tiny RSS and can whole heartedly recommended it. One concern is that their user forum is extremely hostile and the moderators thinks it is somehow entertaining to make fun of others.

well funded competitors you mean :-) ? To be clear, I don't think silicon valley products are any better/worse than other bootstrapped products out there (ie. I was just speaking relatively). It's just that given the massive

Loved the article. I do not agree with the assessment that Silicon valley startups compete based on better products. In fact, it's quite the opposite. All the popular ones you have heard of have taken large amounts of money and subsidi

Totally agree with this. India is not an exception here though. In europe, we have the problem that all the main software is owned in US companies and much of the data resides there. Given US companies desire to mine user data at will, thi

You make it sound like Apple can easily move out of China. Think again. Apple's profits are largely due to the cheap labor market (just like many other companies)

I don't think it's easy to copy. I can understand that the search market is ad driven. But they have put ads in everything now. Why does gmail have ads? It's not easily copyable and people will take years to build a decent gm

As I noted, Google makes great products including gmail. My point was that with gmail being free and good enough, there is nobody to compete with gmail. In 2016, nobody will start an email company even though there are lots of advancements
