Tolerance is not a good thing. If you see something which you think isn’t right you should speak up and not just tolerate it. It’s weird that tolerance is connected with the peaceful coexistence of two groups of people. As if this was the o

True, but the question is if transparency is desirable. I would say it is dangerous for three reasons. First, you might be tempted to tweak your prior until your posterior confirms your hypothesis. Second, using Bayesian reasoning, you make

But, this might be negative, because you can’t consciously tweak an unknown prejudice. But, you can tweak a prior until your results support your hypothesis. In that sense, Baysian statistics might be more transparent, but less honest.

How is explicating the prior an advantage? If the prior is arbitrary anyways you could also stick to your unknown prejudice. This shouldn't change any results and if it does you are in trouble anyways, no matter if you explicitly state

Is this why there are a bazillion of theories of the foundations of QM? I get that the mathematics is incredibly elegant, but concepts behind the mathematics are not really “understandable” to quote Feynman.

Very nice breakdown of the history of the neutrino! I fully agree. Whether a theory is a conceptual desaster or not is completely unrelated to its success. And I totally get that the hope of physicists is that such theories continue to be s

Ok, I would be curious about evidence that dark matter has momentum, because my favorite theory at the moment is that spacetime itself has certain topology on large scales, which isn’t tied to any masses. If one could show that dark matter

I'm not entirely sure which one of the two, Dark Matter or MOND, is conceptually the bigger disaster. Dark matter pretty much sounds like the invisible ether that was suspected to carry EM waves. A physical theory that depends on the s

You can clearly see how in Turkey history repeats itself. Authoritarian clowns like Hitler ultimately need war to legitimize their power. Turkey is provoking war at least in 5 regions at the moment: Lybia (confronting also France), Armenia

Which entropy does “maximum entropy” refer to here? The entropies of the spins? Wouldn’t this entropy depend on temperature and coupling strength since there is a phase transition?

It’s even worse: How can you be sure that you can separate the internal from the external? Both seem to have to be present in order to make sense of anything.

I’m sorry, but I disagree. A measurement process is mathematically speaking an operator which acts on the wave function in Copenhagen interpretation and the collapse of the wave function is a projection onto the eigenfunctions of this opera

I can argue in the same way in favor of Copenhagen. The math of Copenhagen is clearly defined, as the collapse of a wave function is the projection on eigenfunctions of the measuring device.

If it is well understood, could you tell me how it works? I know the mathematics of entanglement just as I know the the mathematics of a collapse of a wave function, so I wouldn't take any mathematical argument as a valid answer.
