One thing I don't see mentioned frequently when articles talk about equity is the concept of trigger events in regards to vested shares. Equity is a great motivator, and is terrific for rewarding (or even keeping employees) but most st

I'm seeing quite a few comments across the web from people saying they were in the 1.5%, which makes me wonder how accurate that number is. Then again, Gmail has a LOT of users, so that could be a very accurate number. We use Google Ap

My biggest annoyance with LinkedIn is the Endorsement feature. I have people I barely know endorsing me for skills I barely have. Right now my highest endorsement total is for PostgreSQL. While I'm proficient with Postgres, there'

If DRM is inevitable, I'd take a properly implemented DRM that's been through community scrutiny than another Sony rootkit fiasco any time.

"...we will not comment on all the factors that contributed to our parting ways" That's what I was referring to. There's so many things that could have been done differently on all sides, but I can't help but wonder the real reason the empl

I only wish PlayHaven had released something this thorough as well. Maybe a lot of this could have been avoided, or at least less vitriolic.

I think Playhaven owes everyone involved with this a better explanation on exactly why this employee was fired. Were they just looking for a reason to get rid of him in the first place, or did what happened at PyCon really justify his termi

I agree that rdio is the better service, but unfortunately since they dropped their free tier, I think most people will just grin and bear it with Spotify. Let's be honest - probably the majority of Spotify's users don't even know what uplo

EDIT: I made one of my typical decimal blunders - we are paying $0.0018 per megabyte. Big difference.

We're using Encoding.com right now which works off the AWS infrastructure. We pre-paid and got our pricing down to $0.018 per megabyte. The drawback to this method is that encoding charges you for MB in AND MB out, whereas Amazon and Zencod

I 100% agree with you. It's a 127 page book on UX design written by someone with what appears to be a great deal of knowledge on the subject. The bottom line is when you're trying to run a business, leads and exposure cost money. They wrote

I'm glad this was said in a much larger avenue than my paltry Twitter account. To bundle a toolbar installation in with a major security fix is not only dishonest, it's unethical and who's to say that toolbar isn't the next piece to contain
