It's starting to look like I may end up with two phones. One with Lineage and most of my apps, hopefully, and another one with Play Protect which hopefully will be just my bank app. Google has become way too powerful and is encroaching

I live in the Netherlands and got lucky with my housing situation, but given the prices here and the fact that I work mostly remove, I would have seriously considered moving to East Germany. I saw apartments for sale for 25k there. What I r

Even worse than blocking certain sites, would be if they burden everybody in a mountain of paperwork, making a lot of internet endaveours no longer feasible. I'm not sure how they do it in China, I know there is an internet registratio

You either get the 20 EUR/m for Sonnet and 100 for Opus. I used Sonnet and switched to Opus eventually. But Sonnet was also good. For my purposes I don't run out of the token limits, although I can't speak for the future.

In China they have car battery swap stations. For such batteries, owenership does not make much sense, so a subscription model indeed seems logical. The monthly fee covers the cost it takes for the company to replace worn cells; electricity

The cells which are in parallel will auto-balance when inserted. It's true that putting an empty cell and a full cell in, can indeed lead to a unextinguishble fire due to thermal runaway. But from the factory, cells will be very close

Can we build a blockchain/P2P-based web crawler that can create snapshots of the entire web with high integrity (peer verification)? The already-crawled pages would be exchanged through bulk transfer between peers. This would mean ther

For me this appears to be true actually, these days. It struggles more with large and terrible codebases though, because it has to ingest so much garbage code in order not to break anything, wheras with nicely strucured code it can do great

I encourage you to try and really lean on LLMs (Claude Code in particular), it's hard to argue that there is no productivity boost. Athropy in "low level" skills is certainly real though. But our ancestors knew how to repair

Never heard about NL and UK having US-like venture capital situations. I always hear complaints that it's harder to raise in the EU. I've never heard NL and UK meantioned as an exception before. I understand the close US ties, but

3D guassian splatting might supplant polygonal 3D for many things. At least for 3D scanned scenes it might make sense. For synthetic scenes it might make sense as well. Very interesting technology! I do a lot with drone photogrammetry, I&#x

Reflection really was the missing piece, it's one of the things that are so nice in Java. Being able to serialize/deserialize a struct to JSON fully dynamically saves a lot of code.

Good point about those constraints. It's bad when governments have a superhighway of information with an email provider. If they have to go through a painful process for each email, it would be like the paper envelope. But if they have
