I think the Pi units have much higher margins on higher RAM versions plus RAM is expensive, so the 16GB is indeed a bad deal. For my workloads I heavily use all onboard peripeals, GPU and CPU, but need only 1GB RAM. So I get a good deal eve

Why do you think they are going down? My impression is that their prices are actually good. Especially for CM4 compatible alternatives. They fab in China just like everybody else. Although they do some or all assembly (soldering) in UK I th

We're centralizing knowledge in a few massive companies vs. the prevous situation which was of ad-hoc knowledge sharing across volunteers. I don't see how this new AI world is more "owning together" than what we had righ

I have an Acer Flip 1 (4GB, passively cooled Intel CPU). And I find GNOME to run really well on this. Compiling large C++ codebases is where the slowness gets in the way. Even VS Code kinda ran. Mostly used this in a lab for data logging, n

Crazy that the bug went unnoticed. So many sites must have been broken by the "a" bug.

Seems like the wrong question to ask. I've been programming my whole life but basically stopped writing code by hand in 2026. The LLM writes better code than I do, much better.

Can you mention some specific tasks/KPIs that you've found bots can do a large amount of work autonomously on? By large I mean something that would take Claude Code or Codex at least a few hours.

Agree, the CPU memory is about 400GB/s vs. Apple M5 Ultra at 1.2TB/s. But the M5 only has that, not the 7TB/s portion. So this box could* still be faster when using the full 748GB if both RAM types can be used without the slo

I recommend having the LLM write Skidl, which generates a netlist, which you import in the PCB editor, which the LLM then reviews. Routing itself I think would require code-driven routing (expressing board via layout constraints, kinda like

Just regular coding agents are really good with Skidl schematics and can review layouts well. I'm not sure why you'd want a specialised environment for this.

Interesting stuff. "Soul" is hard to define. A thought experiment I do is this: Does a human have a soul? Sure. A rock? No. What about a single-cell organism? Nah. An insect? No. But what about a mouse? There is a kind of gradient

Some interesting stuff in there. Has anybody experimented thoroughly with a slimmer system prompt? It's so massive, and handles cases I would never run into, for example, instructing the model when it may end the conversation in case o

I it usually doesn't get me in this weird state of mind, but I once spent 6 months (all-in) building a thing that I, once finished, just left alone completely (on disk gathering dust). Weird experience. So I'd say AI physchosis is

Not sure why the complicated setup with Gemini. I assume you are on a Codex or Claude plan (100 or 200 EUR/USD/m). The model will just pull datasheets and use a combination of conversion to text and looking at bitmap renderings of

What makes you think that? They're great at reading datasheets and creating schematics in my experience. Layout I've been doing myself though, with the AI evaluating. I'll eventually delegate that as well. For schematics I us

I find it's (Sol at least, probably also Fable) great at writing Skidl schematics, evaluating PCB layout work and operating lab equipment while testing board (scope, psu, load, debugger)

Three things that worked well for Sol and also Fable: - Designing circuits in Skidl - Checking my layout work (not doing it) - Operating my lab equipment (running my scope, lab PSU, lab load, programmer/debugger any any other interface

Sol has been very effective at schematic design (using Skidl) and at reviewing PCB layouts. But layout was still done manually by me. I'm very impressed and surprised to see they exactly a demo of Astra doing PCB layout. This is could

There is a real tension. On the one hand, you need to grind to develop the horse power needed. Without the horse power, it's just not possible. On the other hand, your ideas need to meet reality for things to get steered and stay groun

Could this be used to replace photogrammtry when accuracy is needed? Photogrammetry requires lots of images and can be brittle, and is slow to compute.
