Seems even more possible to me that a grandmother can use something that's fascinating a kid to tell them about bad things looming. That's somehow enchanting the situation.

Thanks, I learned a new word :) I thought OP was referring to the fact European upper noble families were all blood related and shared the same interests.

Somehow related: I find Snappy Snippet extension (for Chrome) very interesting. It's supposed to let you make a "live" screenshot of a DOM element. Unfortunately, I've not tried it much as I only rely on Firefox in day t

What do you mean publish your website in PDF/A? Is your frontpage a PDF document linking other PDFs? Ha! Just checked you account and indeed that's what you do... I'm not sure I like to acknowledge the sense of failed HTML bu

On that page, they just mention "growing maintenance costs and technical support needs"... I've wondered if there could be any intellectual property problem underneath but there's no indication about such a thing. It

Apparently, the downvote restriction to wise users doesn't prevent some of them from being trigger happy. Maybe the release date stated above is wrong but I'm shocked to see this kind of comment downvoted.

Really? Does this number account for aluminium foil too? In France it's long been said that this should be thrown with the non-recyclable. Is France an outlier in this regard? Does that mean aluminium foil is a negligible amount?

That's a really great name you came up with! Embodies both parts of your focus, stays pronounceable. Does the 3 relate to the Python version or are you mimicking some specific molecule that I can't think of?

My French brain frequently struggles to parse English titles. But this one takes the cake! Before opening the link, I was expecting something about drug addictions and Cuban cigars. (It's about a company that goes under the overly comp

That brings me to the problem with links as well as with e-books: you don't usually see them. When you have an open tab, you see it all day long until you get rid of it. When you have a printed book, you bump in it on a daily basis (un

The closest I can think of is the Hemingwrite typewriter which has an e-ink display and is portable in some sense. At $342, I hope it's more than a toy. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/astrohaus/hemingwri

Limitations... Sony has annoyed me very much with astonishing limitations on a previous laptop. This has seriously tainted the way I see them despite the otherwise great products they build.

That's the funny thing! French with what are called regional "accents" (be it parisian) is more pleasant to speak and easier to get.

This is a recording from an interview of a Parisian craftsman that took place in 1912. The purpose was to study the different accents that were found in Paris at the time. They mention that it's easy to tell apart someone from Paris 14

This lack of reliable handwriting is definitely an annoying point to me too. That being said, why do you think it won't get any better? Judging by their ads, Sony DPT-RP1 looked great in this respect. (I wonder if the actual experience

Beautiful images of tree-shaped veins in a lake. Nothing to do with a tree of life in the biological sense, though. But I realize I'm biased: Wikipedia [1] shows that the tree of life is a common art depiction. 1. https://en

This article can be seen as an introduction to emacs hacking. It features profiling, hooks, advice, and more emacs developer tricks. I haven't read it fully yet but this looks like a nice way to get to know emacs deeper.

I haven't noticed EPUB suffers from bad support. I like its principle (just a markup language), the two problems I came to see: 1) handling images, tables... objects that may need to be cut are cut at the expense of the ease of reading

That's a good question. I regularly get interested in e-readers but one key point in your question is affordable . Kobo readers [1] look promising. Especially the biggest one Kobo Forma (8") but it's far from cheap (280€).
